Critical State is a Frederick based band that formed in September of 2004. They underwent a number of line-up changes and eventually, in June of 2006, they decided to stay as a trio. Their music style progressed and evolved during the course of the two years of band's existence. Drawing inspiration from such influential bands as Opeth, Lamb of God, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, In Flames, and many other Gothenburg-style metal bands, their music is epic, yet melodic, brutal, fast, and complex. Lately they have been weaving in more technical, atmospheric, ambient, and classical elements, so the newest creations fall under the Prog Death Metal Category. They have shared stages with such renowned international artists as Misery Index and Despised Icon. Recently they got signed by a Production Indie Label CORDIAL RECORDS, ran by guys from a well-known metal band Trauma Concept. www.cordialrecords.com

Here are some reviews of our music:

Cordial records: "When modern music is a let down, just go to the good parts, and mix them together. The original and yet recognizable mixture that Critical State offers is a relief to the ears. When death metal bands go soft, or acoustic bands go noisy, these guys take from those to create their own sound."

Group Desolate Mindfracture: "1- Vocals are pretty damn good death vox ! 2 - drums rule great beats well placed 3- guitars bring it all together my hats off to you !"

Band Bad Uncle Sam about the song A Day in a Life: "the band sounds great really energetic with great musicians just tearing shit up for over 8 minutes. Guitars and drums are fuckin awesome!"

A Crazed Fan: "This is insane. I have never heard someone mix Opeth with In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Dragonforce, The Human Abstract, Vehemence, and Symphony X THAT effectively."
