This hybrid extraterrestrial batrachian, Le Crapo des Marais (The Swamp

Toad), seems to emerge from a rock opera contaminated by a strange virus-

with funk-crazed drums, psychedelic keyboards that flirt with classical

music, a jazz-punk upright bass and vocals that navigate through song, rap,

ragga and spoken word.



Schizophrenia appears to be the main symptom of this virus, especially

affecting the texts. At first glance they may seem to be written in the

nonsense tradition, but once we have entered their peculiar logic and

bestial lyricisme, they make sense after all!



Trying to describe this group is like trying to imagine heavy metal without

distortion, bluegrass without a fiddle, Jamaica without reggae, blues

without whiskey.the only way to comprehend is to listen!

Véritable ovni que ce batracien hybride

totalement débridé! Réunissant un batteur

fou de funk, un clavier psychédélique

flirtant avec la musique classique,

un contrebassiste issu du jazz-punk

et un chanteur mélangeant chanson, rap,

textes parlés et accents ragga,

Le Crapo des Marais semble tout droit sorti

d'un opéra-rock grandiloquent contaminé par

un étrange virus.

Le principal symptôme étant une forme aiguë

de schizophrénie touchant

notamment aux textes :

on les croirait écrits avec la plume de l'absurde,

mais ils s'avèrent finalement tout à fait sensés

une fois intégrée leur logique d'engagement

et de lyrisme bestial.

On l'aura compris, décrire l'univers

de ce groupe est une entreprise aussi vaine

que d'imaginer le mélange improbable

de Primus sans saturation,

Java sans accordéon, Tryo sans reggae et

Svinkels sans alcool !

Il ne reste plus qu'à écouter

pour comprendre.
