Young Buck - T.I.P.

As reviewed by Kingwell

Before Young Buck was spinning his G-Unit piece on stage before a sold out crowd, and rhyming alongside the likes of 50 Cent, Mase, and Mobb Deep, he was putting it down in his hometown, Nashville, Tennessee. You may have seen some of his other pre-G Unit compilations released by D-Tay (who is rumored to be the first act on a new G-Unit South label. You may also be reminded of JT Tha Bigga Figga's compilations of The Game, which although was not new material, still made him some extra cash. The newest of the these "get rich material " compilations is Young Buck's 'T.I.P.'Released through John Galt Entertainment, and produced entirely by very talented upcoming producer D. Smoov aka Smoov Jizzell, a new name in the industry aslo the same producer featured on many Sqad-Up! mixtapes. The big key here was that they got distribution through Universal. The artwork of the front and back covers are nicely done, and although it may seem like a lackluster CD, it is promising.

if you are a G-Unit groupie or just a fan of Buck, this is a good addition to your collection

The opening track 'Blood In, Blood Out' hits hard with a Young Buck flow that you could mistake for his current sound. Perhaps the best produced track, with fine verses and a catchy chorus. On to seconds, Bun B joins Buck alongside Smoov Jizzell, the producer himself. 'Thug in the Club' perhaps may be a Southern 'In Da Club'. And where would we be without D-Tay on a Young Buck compilation? That's right, he appears on six of the album's songs. Another artist who had more than a couple of features, Rizin' Sun, collaborate on 'Caught In The Wind'. Momentarily distracted by those past feature filled tracks, 'Crime Pays' delivers what most would buy the CD for, Young Buck and no one else. Buck raps about dealing drugs, and endless days and night on the block hustling.

D-Tay is back again for 'Penny Pinchin' (and the next two songs after that), with the duo declaring their presence, and they are not to be messed with! 'All About the Money' is an anthem to getting that paper, and not getting that prison bid. Buck tells about how he has waited 'All My Life' for his come-up on the aforementioned track. 'Get You Murder On' is a raw cut laced with electric guitar riff. Buck puts it down for his killers and drug dealers again.

A story of escaping danger and doing whatever it takes to make it in the streets and the rap game is told on 'Can't Keep Livin' A nicely done hook by Buck also. 'Hard Hitters' delivers the information that 'T.I.P.' may be the name of their group (Buck, D-Tay & Rizin' Sun). A self proclamation of the "the best rappers in town" is the topic of this song. A harrowing beat is laced with Buck's southern accented vocals on 'Dickie Fits'. 'Purse First', a laid back track with Bun B & First Born, again about getting money, but with the added twist of getting it from a woman. The final track 'Thugged Out' has yet another appearance by D-Tay and features the raw uncut Buck that sometimes makes an appearance on the G-Unit Radio mixtapes

THA 'HOOD SAYS:

Overall, I would recommend this to Young Buck die-hards only, or if you are really into the dirty dirty South. It however does provide a more accurate glimpse into why 50 picked this guy up, compared to the D-Tay compilations. So if you are a a G-Unit groupie or just a fan of Buck, this is a good addition to your collection. If you are a casual listener, don't look for too much if you pick this up.
