Hello, dear everyone!

Thank you for visiting our web page :)

Music (Oto) by Kurage Honda (Yasuyuki Honda) :

Yasuyuki Honda (a.k.a. Kurage Honda) writes music for coo:ya. Honda is a former keyboardist of “GRASS VALLEY” - a revolutionary band that debuted on the New Wave scene in the 1980s. After disbanding, Honda continued to write music and work as a sound producer for other artists and OVAs. Honda formed "face to ace" in 2001 with Ace Shimizu, who is the former guitarist of Seikima-II.

A musician who loves nothing better than to warp a sound, Honda is renowned for the way he uses his synthesizer to manipulate the track's winding path to the listeners ear.

Scenic beauty, technology and rock 'n' roll may seem at first glance mutually exclusive, but elements of each are deeply connected in the realm of sense.

And it is this world which provides the inspiration for the music coo:ya create.

To go or remain, to love or hate, it is to the beauty of such dilemmas to which the band strive to be faithful through their music. It is coo:ya's belief that from deep within these paradoxical entities a harmony will be born which in turn will give birth to a new world of music.

Afterall, the evolution of music is a path that never ends

Words (Kotodama) by miyo :

Miyo thoughtfully crafts coo:ya's words and bring them to life. miyo stays true to the culture of her native Japan where there was once a belief that a spiritual force known as “kotodama” reside in words. Miyo has worked on writing and a variety of other creative projects mainly in her former prefecture of Aichi. Since 2008, miyo has been the vocalist of the band "Tokyo Anastasia." She also works as a model and an MC.

More than a mere vocalist, Miyos voice is a fundamental instrument in the sound which Honda creates.

True to herself, every word, every lyric, every line she composes is born from deep within, as if seeping by osmosis onto the page.

The resulting marriage of her words with Honda's music forges a vivid world of aural space within which the listener cannot help but inhabit.

A style of music that transcends definition other than being "coo:ya-esque",

Honda and Miyo invite you to experience their new genre of music.

Miyo and Honda, both skeptical of the mainstream "royal road" of the Japanese music scene, met in 1998 via a music producer. They immediately hit it off and formed the band coo:ya.

coo:ya's lyrics are all in Japanese (except for their early works), due to miyo's love for the intrinsic beauty of the language. Their songs weave yin and yang of emotions that are universal to all human beings. coo:ya continues to depict an agonizing, visional, and yet realistic world through their personal mind filters, without being confined to any genre of music.

As coo:ya only releases songs that both miyo and Honda are truly satisfied with, the unveiling of new work is highly irregular. coo:ya does not perform live shows, which makes them a solitary band that is far away from "commercial music."

"Jougen no Tsuki" - Half Moon Waxing

"Jougen no Tsuki"

~ Half Moon Waxing

From 11/30/2002 ReleaseAl"Jougen no Tsuki"

Lyric (English translation):

Author - miyo / Translator - Nobuko Kenmotsu

---

I was gazing at the other side of the iron bars

Sitting on a white bed with my legs stretched out

The full moon split up in half

And her flowing watery light colored my ankle

Those yellow halves are the waxing half moon and I

who were born on the 8th day from the new moon

"Don't kill me," my fading consciousness still begs

I look up to the fallen angel whom my voice and wishes never reach

"I love you," Daddy uttered in the moon light

I am too young to understand this

Tell me, is love sad?

I was looking up to the other side of the iron bars

As the white sheet took my color of red

Slain by black shadows the moon of mirror awaited prayers

Her fair-colored pieces cut my left wrist

That broken mirror is the waxing half moon and I

Who brace a bow and sink at full tide in the midnight

The deceitful justice held this dripping piece of my body

and confined it in a cage of darkness

Mommy dropped her head and cried in the moonlight

Why did I giggle on that day?

Tell me

"Don't kill me," my consciousness, melted by the moon, still begs

I look up to the fallen angel whom my voice and wishes never reach

The gravity that gulps down everything

Breaks me under the name of deceitful justice

Prayers

The devil grins, beckoning, "The time has come."

"Sabaku" -The Desart

"Sabaku"

~ The Desart

From 12/08/2005 Release

Al"Jou en"

Lyric (English translation):

Author - miyo / Translator - Yuiko Hiramatsu(rush!)

---

She counted grains of desert sand

In the darkness of insomnia.

Meaningless words prick her like a thorn

Overcome by heat and thirsty.

If you abandon, renounce it all

If you accept, embrace it all.

The cool-eyed girl is crying

Because her tongue is cut off.

Only a teardrop could indulge the sins of a beautiful flower,

The ravenous flesh,

And the future.

She wakes up in the middle of the night and notices.

She is alone.

Searching for the lost child within her.

The slither of light that breaks through

Is just a mirage, not near or far.

Will the curse never end?

When she stretched out her arms,

She felt the treasure that she has been looking for

On her finger tips.

And she could believe in the existence

Of the ideals she had only dreamt of.

You are standing in the scorching desert

Holding sorrow in your heart

Waiting for someone to come.

She just wanted to feel the warmth of man

But she made the same mistakes again and again.

And all she can do

Is ridicule her own stupidity.
