Consumption formed in late 2002and a whole bunch of things happened after that. You can read about most of the important ones in the bio on our website.

Flash forward to 2005. With the help of a handful of really awesome people (who are ALL linked to our website) we put out an EP called OUT OF THE ASHES. It was spun at almost 200 college radio staions shortly after its release, licensed to MTV, and was featured and reviewed in magazines throughout the US and into Canada.

We headed to Nashville in November of 2006 to record THESE THINGS -- a full-length album at Dark Horse Recording, with the help (once again) of "The Indie Rock Producer Guy" Chris Mara. Stay tuned for a local release in June '07, and an official nationwide release in the fall.

Consumption

Alt rock rising! Consumption is set to leave its mark; distinguish itself in the vast expanse of the Rock genre. The band's creative energy is rooted in the powerful dynamic between core members Gina Turner and Alex Rogers. Their spirits dovetail in many important ways but of equal significance is the striking differences in artistic focus and personality – these differences complement each other and create a unique and electrifying synergy that manifests itself out loud. And this juxtaposition is nowhere more evident than in Consumption's just-released album These Things.

Independence. While These Things admittedly presents much greater focus on structure and ease of listen than previous Consumption releases, rebellion abides. For Gina, it’s about finding the path and staying on it – and inviting listeners into the mix. “Do what you do with a positive purpose and without apology.” Conversely, Alex declares, “Music is one of the binding forces of all mankind. It's universal, transcendent .” So let it be said -- These Things is the product of artistic vision that is pure and uncompromising.

Connection. The way humans are intricately bound to each other is another theme for the members of Consumption. And pure emotion also figures heavily as an influence. Alex's muse is a visceral one. “Feeling is what inspires me the most. It can be nailing that tricky verse or watching a good movie. Or just listening to other musicians I admire.” Gina is fascinated by that interconnectedness. The new album reaches into the human psyche to offer thoughtful meditations on the human condition, our existence, which is one giant “us” made up of a planet-full of “me's,” each with his or her own passions. “I'm a student of humanity,” shares Gina, “psychologically, emotionally, how people are wired, instinct versus learned behavior and trends, etc. All this amazes me.”

Consumption is set to leave a mark. These Things may be a lasting one.

The band's debut effort Out of the Ashes was released in 2005, found play on nearly 200 college radio stations throughout North America and was licensed to MTV. 2006 saw Consumption on stage at Austin’s Chuggin' Monkey for The Dreamscapers Showcase in the midst of SXSW. They’ve teamed up with Minneapolis-based Tinderbox Music take These Things to college radio in September ’07. And with the addition of bassist Brian Granger, touring has been discussed for the spring of ‘08.
