Dig your toes into the sand, crack a cold one, and LIVE YOUR LIFE. The new age Northern California Beach Boys. Reggae Rock at its Finest!
Music can be a soundtrack to life’s moments, a reminder of memories past or a way to get lost in your emotions made aural. The words an artist sings comes from places in one’s heart that the listener feels, knows or yearns to experience. The melody gives our body a chance to move in unison so as to become a part of the song, every beat turns into a flicker in our life. I just discovered and have fallen in love with a band that encapsulates all this and more.
Conscious Souls is what I like to call, summer in a bottle. This Northern Californian band encapsulates the true essence of warm summer days, careless times of fun and the boundless innocence of adventures in one’s youth. With an eclectic and seamless collection of Hip Hop, Reggae, Pop and Rock & Roll, this ensemble of 5 belts out beats that create a musical concoction sure to please and tease the senses of any crowd. Conscious Souls’ songs are derived from the times had by vivacious young men growing up in the bay of San Francisco and certainly gives all who listen, a peek into an accurate feel of California livin’.
Feel good music doesn’t do Conscious Souls justice when trying to explain just how likable and entertaining their tunes are. With fun songs like Drunk Dial and Bully that are reminiscent of Sublime, Bob Marley and Pepper combined with their own Conscious Souls unique edge, its hard not to feel like these dudes that are both easy-on-the-eyes and ears are singing chapters in your life or creating times you hope to have.
I rarely venture beyond the comforts of house music since moving to LA but Conscious Souls has sucked me into their hangin’ loose world of eternal summer and remind me that sometimes it’s OK to stop in the middle of life to have a cold beer and a good time.
