After receiving a guitar for his 7th birthday, Conor Farrell quickly became interested in writing and performing music. First trained in classical guitar, Conor began to learn more contemporary styles of today’s music and at the age of 16, he formed what was to go on to be ‘Namin’ a thrash-metal outfit hailing from Canberra, the capital of Australia.
Namin burst onto Canberra’s, then-thriving band scene in 1995. They played for 4 years around local and interstate venues and quickly picked up a reputation for intense live performances with a unique heavy sound, complimented by soaring vocals. The band eventually broke up and Conor departed for overseas.
During his years overseas and after experiencing diverse cultures such as those found in the US, South America and Europe, Conor found himself being pulled in different directions musically and began creating his own music with the acoustic guitar that travelled with him.
On his return to Australia, Conor played a handful of rare shows in his hometown of Canberra. Each of these shows was packed to capacity with outstanding reviews with the band hailed as a “super group” in the local press.
Now living in Melbourne and with the addition of new members, rare live shows have received a fantastic response from both audiences and venue owners alike. This has provided new opportunities, such as 2 tracks currently being featured in 2 Australian short films.
Releasing his self-titled EP in 2006 to packed shows on the east cost of Australia, and a handful of dates in the UK, has already generated a lot of interest.
.and now with his fourth release, a new full-length debut album (available soon), things are looking up for this talented individual.
