When Petey was a freshman in high school, his goals fortified themselves with the releases of the Hip Hop classics "21 and Over" from Tha Alkaholiks, and "Enter the 36 Chambers", from Wu Tang Clan. With both records running through his head 24/7, he decided to pick up the pen and start writing, as it was evident he didn't have to live the street life or rap about it to be considered a dope MC. An illustrious high school and college career battling him, her, and them, Petey found himself with a nice buzz through the New York City scene. (At the time, Petey went by the name Conflict, so if you've heard or saw Conflict perform, you know what Petey is bringing to the table.) Petey signed a demo deal in 2003 with Knockaround Guys Entertainment and again with Gutter Records in 2005. Both companies folded, but Petey kept on with keepin' on. Working tirelessly finishing college, working a nightshift, and putting my work in with the rhymes and beats, I released "A Ruff Draft" in 2005, pressed and distributed them on my own, creating a real buzz in the tri state area that garnered the attention of such Hip Hop legends as Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian. An impromptu meeting at a local deli/pizzeria led Petey to working with the God, and in 2008, Petey released "This Iz", under the moniker Conflict, featuring production from himself and Lord Jamar, as well as features from Pace Won, Skyzoo, Paradox, DJ Uvex, DJ Phillee Blunt, and Laro. He distributed the album through Itunes and CDBaby through GrindKingsMusic. Several songs from This Iz, including the single "Maintain featuring Pace Won b/w This Iz" released on Soulspazm Records, were mainstays on various college and underground top 30 lists from October 2008 thru the new year. At the same time, Petey finally dropped the "Conflict" moniker and started releasing music under the Petey Green imprint. "Straight Talk", off his highly anticipated LP, "Welcome To P-Town", was also a constant on underground and college top 30 charts, as well as a favorite of WEFUNKRADIO, Stylus's 2008 Hip Hop Show of the Year. In April 2009, Petey will be releasing a new mixtape, "I Don't Sleep", with the LP following shortly afterward. Stay tuned people, Petey Green is on the scene!!!
