Classic Addict is a native Columbus, Georgia rock band that has developed its own unique and distinctive sound. Formed in 2001 by brothers Chase and Cale Dodds from the ashes of their band Lakeside, this youthful band has a mature blend of classic, southern, and hard rock that appeals to a huge following of loyal fans. A band that has a solid set of original songs that any true rock n roll fan will love. As well as resurrecting classic rocks most iconic sounds. Their musical ability allows them the capability to improve many familiar, classic tunes using their own signature style into blistering works of musical art.
Cale is the front man for the band playing guitar, writing songs, and singing – all in a style that belies his young age. Along with his gregarious stage presence and charisma, he is also an emotive songwriter who enjoys interacting with the crowd. He puts a creative spin on his lyrics that speak of every day frustrations and satisfactions combined with his singing ability that wins favor with even the most jaded music connoisseurs.
Older brother Chase sets the heartbeat for the band, playing the drums with a controlled violence that causes the fans to pulsate with adrenalin. Chase picked up his first set of drumsticks at age nine and has not missed a beat since. His skilled style sets the emotional pace for this band and drives their high energy rock style.
Cale and Chase recruited friend and local guitar phenom, Clint Poe. Watching Clint play is like watching Jimmy Page when he was with the Yardbirds – you know you are witnessing the birth of a future guitar legend. Part Page and part Hendrix; combined with a stage persona that seems to be channeled from Angus Young, this aggressive ax-man is well respected in the South for his southern rock style and blistering guitar solos that make the listener beg that they would never end.
Completing Classic Addict’s original sound is the recent addition of Ben Bias on the bass. Ben’s skill enhances and refines the musical talents of his band mates, melding their sound and making it resonate.
When Classic Addict takes the stage, the four members exude their passion for performing and playing music, translating it to the crowd and whipping them into frenzy. Classic Addict matures musically, personally, and professionally, they maintain a relationship with their fans as friends while still attracting an ever-growing legion of loyal supporters. Classic Addict not only captures the hearts of new listeners but recaptures the hearts of their old friends at every performance.
In 2005, Classic Addict was approached by Drive-Thru Records and PureVolume.com to add their infectious track “Note to Self” on their compilation album entitled “Bands You Love, Heard of, and Should Know of”. Most recently, Classic Addict recorded “Hollywood is Here” with Matt Malpass (Copeland, Inkwell, Rory).
Classic Addict has received numerous opportunities due to their talent and electrifying stage presence, sharing the stage with Montgomery Gentry, Matt Nathanson, MayDay Parade, Family Force 5, Corey Crowder, and DHT. They also played on the 2008 MTVU VMA Tour at Six Flags over Georgia with Boys Like Girls and Metro Station. In 2004, they played the Atlanta stop of Van’s Warped Tour.
