Not only an acclaimed singer-songwriter, but also a fine interpreter of song, Ciaran Dorris moved to Glasgow from his native Belfast in 1988, after several years carving out a name for himself on the Ulster folk scene, including a support slot to Eric Bogle at the Belfast Folk Festival.
Success in Scotland soon followed when Ciaran began working with Kentucky-born fiddler Kate Kramer in 1992, a relationship which spawned the band Arran Bede whose album 'The Gossamer Mansion' was released on the KRL label in 1994. His time with Arran Bede earned Ciaran many plaudits from the likes of Billy Connolly, The Herald's Rob Adams and the Glasgow Evening Times. Also during this period, he was a regional finalist in the TDK International Songwriting Competition.
Since Arran Bede broke up in 1995, Ciaran has spent many years doing concerts thoughout the British Isles for the Council For Music In Hospitals, and has also toured extensively with Perthshire-based singer Heather Innes.
The duo of Ciaran and Heather was invited to join the 'Britfolk' contingent to the North American Folk Alliance conference in 2002, and their much lauded album 'Waiting For The Calm' (2004) was described by Irish Music magazine as 'An aural feast.one of the most invigorating collections of folk songs issued this year'.

Ciaran's debut solo album of mostly self-penned material, 'Chasing Dreams Down A Dirt Road', is now available and has been hailed as 'a fine, literate collection' by Sarah McQuaid in the Irish Evening Herald.

Ciaran also presents a regular Sunday show on Celtic Music Radio. CMR broadcasts across Glasgow and is also online at www.celticmusicradio.net
