Los Angeles, CA – Electro-rock artist Chris Yarber is at work on his new album, slated for release in 2009. But listeners aren't without new music to listen to. The single, "Eighty-Six," as well as other tracks, are available online at www.chrisyarber.com.
"Eighty-Six" brings out Yarber's bright synth pop sensibilities. Those electronic smarts are buoyed up and bolstered by melodic, upbeat lite industrial flavorings, touches of post-modern tribal percussion, subtle tinges of hip-hop (instrumentally, not vocally), a dash of rock-n-roll, a bit of retro and emotionally motivated vocals.
Besides rock, pop and new wave influences, Yarber also frequently includes influences based on classical styles as well as the dynamics of cinematic scores. Recently, he has drawn attention as a male vocalist in a dance-pop-electro-rock genre dominated by female vocalists. That and his classical and cinematic influences have set him apart from many of his contemporaries.
Yarber began writing and producing music at 13 years of age. When he was 17, he relocated to Southern California to tackle a professional music career. For more than four years he wrote and played with electronic rock band, The Anix, with whom he released three albums – "An Illusion of Time (2004), "Play.Dance.Repeat" (2005) and "Demolition City" (2008). Following his stint with The Anix he toured with 30 Seconds to Mars and My Chemical Romance as keyboardist for Megan McCauley. He has also toured with The Human League, Joy Electric, Stefy and others. His song, "iWant," was featured in the independent film "Ira and Abbey."
Now, Yarber is focused on developing his solo career. He is working with A&R Select, the premier A&R firm based out of Los Angeles, CA.
