Rapture (2000), a brilliantly orchestrated piece by Christopher Rouse, one of America's finest orchestral composers today. According to the composer, this piece aims to "depict a progression to an ever more blinding ecstasy. [...] It is also an exercise in gradually increasing tempi; it begins quite slowly but, throughout its eleven-minute duration proceeds to speed up incrementally until the breakneck tempo of the final moments is reached."
