Choc Nitty Biography:

Choc Nitty, a Watts, CA, USA native was born Therell Gamboa on December 10, 1981. Musically influenced since birth by his father who was a disc jockey, Choc Nitty began performing at local talent shows throughout Los Angeles, CA when he was 12 years old. In 1999, Choc Nitty along with three underground artists, Six Reasons, K.P. and T Dogg formed the notorious Snowman Cliq.

Choc Nitty was raised by his mom who was a single mother in a shared one bedroom apartment with his nine siblings. As the third eldest son, Choc Nitty instinctively took on the responsibility of helping to raise and provide for his siblings. However, the streets and selling drugs quickly became his way of life. After being arrested for selling crack, he realized his passion, music. Choc Nitty was later featured on Good Magazine’s documentary: On Skid Row Series pt. 3: Drugs.

As Choc Nitty and the Snowman Cliq began to shift their focus solely on music, they began electrifying audiences at LA’s most coveted venues such as the House of Blues, Key Club, The Roxy, Club Aura and many others. Performing their ground breaking hits, ‘Shake It Like Jello’ and ‘Fresh’; sharing the stage with established artists, Young Buck, Too Short, E40, Chingy, Digital Underground, The Outlaws, Lil Flip, and Juvenile to name a few.

As a recent MySpace featured music artist and a highly anticipated underground rising icon, Choc Nitty landed the number three spot for the West Coast and also landed the top twenty-three of the entire U.S. for his hit single ‘Fresh’ produced by The Key. Choc Nitty’s hit single from his forthcoming album ‘Listen and Learn’ hit rotation on one of LA’s largest hip-hop radio stations, 93.5 K-Day.

Other notables include feature stories in allhiphop.com, Dub CNN and The LA Weekly cover story, ‘The Brand New Grind’ in which a record company talks aimed about launching the Snowman Entertainment brand and completing work on his debut album ‘Listen and Learn’. Choc Nitty was also a featured artist on RapTalk.net. Now he’s still grinding, heading to the top.
