Viola K. Booth took up the guitar at age 8 and never put it down, until one day she smashed one on an old piano.
Coming from a musical family comprised of singers, an accordion player, a saxophonist, and Terry Riley, it's been musical all along.
Chinese Bookie is Viola Booth backed by self-made tracks of live and electronic beats,
synthesizer, bass, and
guitar. When performing, Chinese Bookie has DANCERS ONSTAGE.
Since 2006, Chinese Bookie has played the following San Francisco and Santa Cruz venues:
The Rickshaw Stop,
The Stud, Bottom of the Hill, Hotel Utah, House Of Shields,
The Blue Lagoon, The Knockout, El Rio, Thee Parkside,
Femina Potens Gallery, Creative Clash (a loft party
with a corporate sponsor), and a couple house parties,
as well as playing in The 12th Annual Mission Creek
Music Festival 2008.
