Chilo originally hails from Riverhead, Strong Island, New York. A licensed History teacher, he currently educates youth in the Bronx, and Brooklyn. Known for providing a diverse blend of hard work, knowledge, passion, and lyricism every time he steps upon the stage, he has written and performed Hip Hop music for over fifteen years, initially developing his craft in the mid nineties with hip hop group, G.O.S., Since then he has had the opportunity to perform at hundreds of well known venues and universities within the country and his love of writing has expanded and branched out into other genres and directions. Chilo has been featured on numerous audio projects, mix tapes and events, and is a former member of the hip hop/spoken word group “21 Poetz”, and a founding member of one of the only all Latino spoken word performance groups in NYC, El Grito De Poetas, who received an award in 2009 from the state department of health for their work within the HIV community. He is also one half of the hip hop group “Dr. Loco”, who have recently completed their debut album, “Lab Experiments”, which can be purchased on . Chilo recently completed working on the Puerto Rican Freedom Project, www.prfreedomproject.org., and is currently working on a plethora of powerful projects. A cultured and spiritual educator, Chilo enjoys giving back to the community and being part of unique collectives that can offer a multitude of beneficial services to the societies we live in today.
