Brian Dickerson and Terrance Talley placed an ad in Backstage Magazine and auditioned over 40 talented singers in the fall of 1999. Brian later named the group Chapter 2.
The name Chapter 2 is derived from the 2nd Chapter of Acts. This chapter describes how apostles, followers of Christ, were endowed with miraculous powers to spread the good news to people from every nation. It is through this belief that Chapter 2 has set themselves to be advocates for Gods love through song.~~~
For more than 7 years, European, South African and United States audiences have been praising and enjoying Chapter 2s mix of contemporary, urban, traditional and inspirational gospel music. Under the direction of native New Yorker, Brian Dickerson, a Music Education graduate of New York Universities School of Music and assisted by Terrance Dwight Talley.
Consisting of 16 phenomenal voices from the New York City area who have individually been featured in stage productions of Mama I Want To Sing, Dreamgirls, Smokey Joes Café, The Wiz, Raisin In The Sun, Ain't Misbehavin, Showboat and Porgy and Bess, Chapter 2 members have lent their voices and toured or recorded with some of musics most prominent artists from gospel's The Harlem Gospel Choir, Queen Esther & The Harlem Gospel Singers, Timothy Wright and Hezekiah Walker to platinum secular artists David Foster, Josh Groban, Alicia Keys, Elton John, Andre Rieu, Celine Dion, Carly Simon, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Lenny Kravitz, Michael Bolton, Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Patti Labelle, Brian McKnight and Opera diva Jesse Norman.~~~
Chapter 2 has shared the gospel stage/opened for Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary, Smokie Norful, Richard Smallwood, CeCe Winans, Dorinda Clark of the famed Clark Sisters, Dorothy Norwood and Donald Lawrence while the groups professionalism and presence has opened doors for them in television (ABC's Good Morning America) (PBS's Soundstage - "Live from Lincoln Center - Rose Hall w/Josh Groban) (NBC's Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting) (ABC's Live w/ Regis & Kelly)(NBCs Saturday Today Show) as well as commercial print advertising for JP Morgan Chase, Time Out Magazine, The New York Times and The New Yorker Magazine. Chapter 2 has also been the featured house choir for various New York City gospel brunches such as The World Famous Blue Note Jazz Club, Justins (P-Diddy Combs Restaurant), Ambiance, BBQs and Spirit Cruises.
