Chantel Morrow or better known as Chantel 'SinGs' has had the opportunity to open for national recording artist such as MARIO, JEREMIH, TREY SONGZ, LYFE JENNINGS, SILK, KEITH SWEAT, MONTELL JORDAN, SHAWTY LO, JAGGED EDGE, THE S.O.S BAND, JESSE POWELL, KCI and JO-JO and more! She has also featured as a model in the JOLIE MAGAZINE FASHION SHOW with Actress/Spokesperson VIVICA.A.FOX. Chantel 'SinGs' was nominated for BEST RNB artist of the year at the 2008 Twin Cities Hip Hop Awards! She is also sponsored by the state of Minnesota for being a recipient of The 2008 Artist Initiative Grant from The Minnesota State Arts Board!
Most recently, Chantel 'SinGs' has been working exclusively with PROMOTEMYSONG.COM. The website owner Dan Squillace and his affiliates flew Chantel 'SinGs' out to Miami,Florida in March of 2008 and teamed her up with well known producer Robert 'Big Bert' Smith (producer for artist such as Michael Jackson, Brandy, Dave Hollister and Kelly Rowland). While in Miami, Chantel 'SinGs' co-wrote and recorded the hot single 'Hey Boy' feat. Miami based rapper Novel Hooligan. The song 'Hey Boy' has been released on Twin Cities radio station 96.3 B96 as the 'New at 2' which is very rarely done for an unsigned artist.
Chantel 'SinGs' has played roles in 2 Independent films 'SOMETHING 2 DIE 4' and 'BROKEN MAN'S DREAM' in 2006 and 2007 which are both available on DVD! Produced and Directed by Eric. A. Rhea.
Chantel 'SinGs' is a Chicago born native who currently resides in Minnesota. Born January 31, 1983, with five sisters and five brothers on both sides of the age difference, she acquired inspiration from her mother that led to her taste for all types of music. Engrossed with music greats such as Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Boyz II Men, Anita Baker and so many more, she became fascinated with the sounds of their music. However, she was unaware at the time she was going to embark on the 'Soul Train' of the music industry.
During the several years Chantel and one of her sisters lived with their father in MN, she committed herself to completing her high school education and financially supporting herself through various jobs throughout her high school years. Just before graduation, Chantel discovered she was going to become a mother. This did not impede her progress towards obtaining her high school diploma and continuing to pursue a college education. In the beginning of 2003, Chantel enrolled at Brown College and obtained a degree in TV Production & Broadcasting.
'When I was a little girl, I would dance and sing in front of my mom while she listened to music as a therapeutic way of relieving her stress.' 'I didn't realize then, that I was sharpening my skills as an artist as well as practicing for what would later become my career!
Sadly, during December of 2005, Chantel was faced with some tragic and disturbing news. She was diagnosed with OVARIAN CANCER and was informed that a surgical procedure would be needed to remove the cancerous tumor. After being hospitalized for two weeks upon a successful surgery, she began her recovery stage for the next three months.
Unfortunately less than a month later in January of 2006, Chantel witnessed the stabbing death of her longtime friend and companion in his own home. After experiencing two traumatic events back-to-back and struggling to get back on track, all while having to continue to take care of her son JAMEZ, Chantel maintained a positive outlook on life and decided to continue to pursue her music career.
To date, outside of performing regularly, Chantel 'SinGs' is working to complete her first LP titled album 'Long Time Coming' which will be her heart and soul pouring out life's events over the past years as well as her hopes and dreams for the years to come. 'In my toughest moments in life, I use Music as my therapy, and I would honored to know that others will utilize my music in the same manner.
