Chang A. Imlach is Bahamian, but his ancestry is Irish, African, Trinidadian and South American Indian, his heritage is Black, White and Indian and the only race missing was Asian so his parents called him Chang, so all 4 races on earth were represented which gives him his unique look and characterlol Chang was born in Nassau Bahamas but later moved to Harbour Island. Chang started playing the piano as a child and joined the Courage Band in its early days. He is a talented songwriter, arranger, Saxophone Player, sound engineer, producer and technician. As a specialist in all things technical, he excels in communications and business and information systems, Chang is also a model and did some acting and has been in two movies (""The Hustle"" and ""The Bahama Hustle"") which could be found at blockbusters everywhere. Chang also engineered Vitamin C, Courage band's debut album.
He is also a member of the Commonage Committee, which represents the caretakers of the land on North Eleuthera granted to his fore fathers by Queen Victoria for expelling the Spanish, Buccaneers, Pirates and Bootleggers from the Bahamas in 1845. As an Executive Board member Chang is responsible for environmental research. Some of the issues he has researched pertain to dump sites, drainage systems; and he also specializes in creating map systems and converting the old maps dating from 1845 to modern versions, defining the Commonage boundaries of North Eleuthera. He has also been involved in trying to create a national park and conservation area to protect the Hawksbill Turtles in North Eleuthera.
Chang's professional experience is in the area of communications electronics and engineering. He has worked as a service and installation technician for companies in the United States such as Telstar Electronics, Stargate Electronics and Direct TV. He also does production, grip, lighting and sound for music videos, commercials and TV shows. Some companies he has worked for are Gillette , Cover Girl, Self, Next, Vogue, Brooks Brothers, Boden, J.Jill, Polo Ralph Lauren, 9West, DRIVEIN24, Macy’s, Conde Nast Traveller, and House Hunters,(HGTV) just to name a few.
My music is what I call ""Urban Island"". Harbour Island’s (Bahamas) cosmopolitan nature has afforded me the unique setting of a rich local heritage combined with all the musical and cultural influences from the outside world. And I mesh them all together to make my unique sounding music. Chang has been writing music from when he was 15 years old, creating fun yet also conscious music that people can not only dance to but which also brings an awareness to the people through music that the earth and our society needs healing. He has toured throughout the Bahamas, Hawaii, and the United States, some high lights include opening for Sheila E at Prince's Club , Glamslam, in Minneapolis. Mint Condition, Beres Hammond, Maxi Priest, Marcia Grifitz, Bahamen Big Mountain, he has played with Lenny Kravitz and did a Bob Marley benefit concert in Des Moine, Iowa for the food bank. just to name a few. Chang's musical influences have been Lenny Kravitz, The T-connection band, JAH Love band, Liberace, Elton John, Lionel Ritchie, Spyda, Prince, Innocent, and many others.
Chang is available for Movies, Music videos, Photo shoots, concert lighting, sound hookups and sound reinforcement engineering. He is also available for collaboration on music projects, such as, producing, writing and arranging, and is proficient in most digital musical recording platforms. In his attempt to bring musical awareness to upcoming generations, he has become the Vice-Chairman of Harbour Island Unplugged, this experience enables him to easily join other bands in jam sessions and Earth festivals and clubs worldwide. Chang is a New Age Renaissance Man an accomplished artist, musician, arranger, technician, actor, model, environmental activist, teacher, poet, and spiritually-enlightened composer and lyricist.
