My name is Catherine Vidal. I am a 21 year-old singer-songwriter from Montreal, Canada.



I used to have an online dating profile. I met people and it sucked and then it rocked and then shit went down and now I deleted it. Therefore, I feel like I need a place to tell you random shit that could make you like me. Yes, I could just use my Facebook profile, but that is kind of private, isn’t it? (Although, if you want to be Facebook friends with me, go for it, I won’t say no!) This seems like a more appropriate place to tell you about things such as my (healthy) obsession with Meg Ryan. I believe in love, but I believe in, what I like to call, a Meg Ryan kind of love. Since that hasn’t happened yet, I write angsty songs about people I have dated. That would probably put me in the “bad ex” category. That’s ok though since that’s why you’re here.



What else would I want to tell you? I hide behind sarcasm and do the robot whenever it seems appropriate (which is pretty much whenever I don’t know what to do). I feel bad about having the same haircut twice in a row (which makes me think I have absolutely no idea what to do with my hair next). My absolute favorite movie ever is “You’ve Got Mail” (go figure!). I love reality shows. I love Jeopardy. I hate apples. I love pin-ups; especially pin-up cowgirls. I adore high 5s. I think you look really good today.



Music-wise, I’ve always sang and I started writing songs when I was about 13. Before that, I wanted to be in a girl group, but seeing Michelle Branch’s video for “Everywhere” pretty much changed my life. Thank God I’ll never be in a low-budget version of the Spice Girls. They wouldn’t want me anyway because I can’t dance and that is probably why I decided to hide behind a guitar. Even my rendition of the robot sucks (in a (hopefully) totally adorable manner, though).



I’ve played lots of different venues in Montreal. Petit Campus, The Yellow Door and Centre St-Ambroise just to name a few. I have also been part of events such as Pop Montreal and the Fringe Festival. I will pretty much play anywhere any time so if you have something to offer me, send it my way! If you’re in Montreal or in another town and would like to play with me, let me know! The goal is to start touring in the near future so don’t hold anything back!
