Cassettes Won't Listen (a/k/a Jason Drake) has been recording, producing and remixing in the depths of New York for many years, amassing fans and critical acclaim by the likes of Spin, MTV, Perez Hilton and many more. New York City has always been home and the main focus of inspiration for CWLuntil now. The warm tones of Los Angeles are now home to Mr. Drake and his nom de plume.

The last few years have seen the release of many new works by Cassettes Won't Listen. He released his One Alternative EP that contained classic '90's indie rock covers including "Cut Your Hair" by Pavement and "Fuck and Run" by Liz Phair. Small-Time Machine was his acclaimed EP that contained all original works, including the dynamic songs "Freeze and Explode" and "Paper Float". Both songs have remixes floating around from the likes of the Mad Decent crew, Styrofoam, and many more as well as videos to match, each premiering on MTV 2. "Freeze and Explode" also had a recent cameo on "Chuck" (NBC) this March.

Lately, Cassettes Won't Listen has been laying down remixes for others, including: The Death Set, Broken Spindles, Mr. Lif, Christine (with whom he has a split single on Moodgadget coming out soon) and a few others currently in the works.

Although CWL is hard at work on remixes, he continues to work on original material as well. Cassettes Won't Listen is releasing a new LP of instrumentals called Into the Hillside with the first single being that of the same name. It's the new elements of Los Angeles that inspired CWL to created a 70's inspired record that shows insight into his new production techniques (and his new California attitude). And, in addition to the LP, he's releasing an iPhone App in conjunction with Future Audio Workshop (makers of the Deadmau5 iPhone App) that will allow users to manipulate and mix many of the songs on Into the Hillside. Into the Hillside, mixes Cassettes Won't Listen's atmospheric wall-of-sound production with lo-fi synths and new (and old) recording techniques. It is a glimpse into Jason's evolution.
