Fusion of style is Carra’s middle name. His combination of Acoustic, Roots, World and Reggae influences create a highly evolved and sophisticated show. Carra’s enthusiasm to share, perform, teach, and learn music is evident through his young but mature persona. Travelling and touring the past 4 years has proven to have built a strong musical foundation.

Born and raised in Jervis Bay on the south coast of New South Wales, Luke Caruana nicknamed ‘Carra’ picked up a guitar at the age of twelve and has never looked back, playing in several bands throughout his adolescent years before realising his potential as a singer songwriter as he approached his twenties.

After spending most of 2006 in small Mediterranean country Malta, Carra learnt his roots and shared a lot of musical experiences including performances at Farsons Beer Festival, GAIA festival and invitations to perform in Holland, London and Ireland, which he accepted. During his stay, one of Carra’s finest songs ‘GAIA’, was written and later released as a single in 2008 and received triple j radio airplay reaching many listeners around the country.

2007 saw the release of ‘Be Yourself’ Album, described as a gusty rock album. Building a name for flawless shows and a constant lack of sleep, Carra experienced an intense touring calendar that has continued through all states of Australia.

Over the years, Carra and various line ups have hit the stages of festivals and venues including: Peats Ridge Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Bridgetown Blues, World Youth Day, Down the Bay Festival, Half Moon Club (London), The Basement (Sydney) Notte Bianca Festival to name a few. Carra has also shared the stage and performed with other groups including Ash Grunwald, The Whitlam’s, CW Stoneking and EMDEE.

A return to Europe in 2008/09 to promote new album ‘Borderline’ indicates that Carra is building a grass roots following and community of music lovers abroad to share and embrace his music. This was most evident during Carra’s tour in Malta. Cecil Jones Alto Sax player and Bernard Borg Jembe, joined Carra at various Wine bars and Festivals and then over to France, where Carra had fans playing Jembe to Kazoo. This highlights the spontaneous element of his performance. From TV performances on TVM in Malta to touring France, Carra embraces different cultures.

His new self funded album “Borderline” is a much darker release to date. From the opening reminiscent track “we must let go” to closing epic ten minute piece “In the end”, the listener is taken on a journey through Carra’s emotions, spirituality and music. Majority of Carra’s album is acoustic, with additional strings, didgedoo from Emdee’s – Mark Hoffman and Alex Dumbrell Percussion.

The Current line up is Alex Dumbrell on Drums and Percussion, who as Carra describes as ‘one of the most solid drummers and loyal performers ever’. Also various off sessions and special guests including Eddy Moore – Trumpet and Ant Beard – Percussion, Cowbell to name a few.

Carra returns to Europe in June/July for summer shows. If interested email: info@carramusic.com
