Caroline Taylor-Knight was born in a small country town 600 kilometres west of Sydney and grew up on farms in Central NSW and Central Queensland. Her introduction to the spotlight came at 10 years old when she performed solo in front of 1,000 people from her local community and many low key performances followed. Caroline did modelling and acting in her late teens, whilst completing her Marketing degree but music was always her true love.
Since then Caroline has written and released an independent EP, which generated interest from a number of record companies and publishers, was aired on several commercial radio stations and saw her nominated for Best New Talent at the QRA (Queensland Recording Association) Awards in Brisbane. It also sparked the interest of a Gold Coast events co-coordinator, who promptly placed her as the support act for Daryl Braithwaite. Exceedingly impressed by Caroline's performance, the said promoter immediately offered her supports for both Vanessa Amorosi and James Morrison's upcoming concerts. After Daryl's concert, local record stores phoned the promoter, asking if Caroline had a CD available, as they had been flooded with customers asking to purchase her album. Caroline was also booked to launch Australia Post's Rock Australia Stamp series at the Brisbane GPO series and organisers were so impressed that they invited her to perform four songs (including one of her originals) to open a major football game in Brisbane for a stadium crowd of 20,000 people. The show was incredibly well received and a career highlight to date.
Fuelled by this success and attracting the attention of award-winning producer Duncan Wood (both professionally and personally), Caroline put her heart and soul into recording her debut album Fall for Me, on which she wrote or co-wrote all but one of the eleven tracks. Fall for Me is now available to order in good music stores nationally in Australia, on iTunes and through her website shop
Just some of the events that Caroline has performed at in recent years include: the Caboolture Cultural Forum; Queensland Music Festival's Caboolture Drumming (4000 people attended) and Lift Every Voice; WAM Fest; New Zealand's Parachute Festival; the Songwriters' Cafe and Next Generation Station at the Urban Country Music Festival; and the Coca-Cola Stage, Buttercup Stage and the Toyota Outdoor Stage at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Caroline has been featured two issues of Talent magazine in Australia and received glowing album reviews in both Capital News and Country Update. Her singles "Fall for Me" and "Forever" have been on high rotation and have charted on radio in seven national retail chains including Kmart and have received airplay across Australia on country and community radio as well as cable TV radio stations and internationally on Internet Radio. Caroline's debut video clip "Fall for Me" is airing on CMC, with more clips coming soon.
Caroline has just released her second album "Me Again" produced by Duncan Wood and it is now available to order in all good music stores, on iTunes or at touchwoodproductions.com/shop.htm . It is a dynamic, compelling and personal album that opens an exciting new chapter in Caroline's career. The first single "Enough" proved popular on country radio reaching number 14 on 98.9fm's All Australian Top 20 and her second single "Are You There?" has gave Caroline her first national chart hit, reaching number 15 on the CMR Top 30. Her third single "Country Girl" is Caroline's first Top Ten reaching number 5 on 98.9fm's All Australian Top 20. Caroline was a finalist in the Sapphire Award Category at the Channel C Blue Shoe Awards in December 2010 where she also performed and presented an award. A huge Tamworth 2011 followed with seven shows with her label mates Dane and Jessica as well as performing at the Logan Unites 4 Lockyer Benefit Event. Her latest single "Love is an Action" is out now on Country Radio and Caroline has just been nominated for 2011 Female Vocalist of the Year in the Queensland Country Music Awards. Caroline is looking forward to filming more video clips and a live DVD (proudly supported by the Moreton Bay Regional Council and Arts Queensland) in the coming months, along with many more shows with label-mates Dane Sharp, Jessica Townsend and Duncan Wood and the Touchwood band (Darren Scott, Don Macarthur, Micah Reimers and Arno Cassidy) as the Touchwood Come Together Tour continues. 2011 is set to be a huge year for this talented artist.
