Carl Thomas

Originally from Belgium, Carl Durant is a seasoned songwriter with a keen ear for melody and arrangements bringing you an ear fondling mix of finger picked and strummed guitar songs.
His sound lingers between The Decemberists and Placebo with a hint of REM and a tad of James Blunt's lyrical style . Although often starting from a base of acoustic guitar, this is no country and no folk.
For live performances, he uses a looping pedal when playing solo and with his four-piece band (bass, backing vocals, drums) his electric guitar to spice things up a bit.
Recorded&Mixed at his home-based studio and Mastered at ZenMastering in San Diego, the 5-song CD "Last Place" has a lounge rock feel that translates the ambiance of Carl's solo live performance into a true studio-recorded album with a blend of acoustic and electronic sounds. His debut single "Appropriate" has been aired numerous times on Radio Sophie, KPRI, Rock105.3FM and 91x in San Diego. Sonically, comparisons with Bruce Springsteen's "I'm on fire" and with Clannad were made while his voice reminds some people of the Decemberists, Muse or Placebo.

Carl shares a musical interest with his fan base listening to bands as Coldplay, Oasis, Jason Mraz, Radiohead and The Killers, while also enjoying electro and techno beats of La Roux, Laurent Garnier etc.
