CARISIMA BIOGRAPHY** Real Name: Nancy Zawahiri Birthday: 04/25/1988 Birthplace: Montreal, QC, Canada Occupation: Singer/Song Writer/Dancer Languages: French, English, Spanish and Arabic Styles of Music: Pop/R&B/Acoustic Nancy Zawahiri also known as Carisima was born in the beautiful city of Montreal (Quebec) on April 25, 1988. Carisima was lucky enough to be influenced by legends like Boys II Men, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera and Celine Dion as a younger being. Through time, her musical inspiration has evolved in different categories. Like her inspirations, Carisima has explore many fields in order to better situate herself in her right domain. After exploring many fields, she has discovered that Pop and R&B were the ones what she loved the most. Growing up, her mirror was her best friend, using it was to dance was it's main function! Her dancing style is mostly that of a freestyler, however her strengths are principally directed in the field of Funky Jazz, Hip Hop, Popping, Belly Dancing and Salsa. In addition to her love for dancing, Carisima loved, most of all, to sing and compose her songs. Growing up in a musical environment, with a Lebanese background, Carisima was very much exposed to the art of entertainment. At the young age of 6, she started to perform on stage. From school talent shows, to neighborhood events, local festivals, the singer was first to suggest a musical segment to show others what she does best. To maintain, develop and improve her gifted talents, Carisima regularly takes music lessons for her singing, her dancing and her love for piano. At 18, Carisima met with famous Spanish duo; Yaga y Mackie. The duo was in Montreal for a show for which Carisima was promoting. On a regular basis contact was kept between both parties. That same year, she was offered to move to Puerto Rico to work with the Spanish sensation on several musical collaborations. Carisima decided to pursue her dream until the end and left to Puerto Rico without notice to anyone and just enough money to pay her airfare ticket. Promises were made and that’s all they ever were. And so, Carisima was sold dreams and left out on the street in an unknown country and language. To get trough this rough time, she had no choice but to find herself 3 jobs. First came a waitering job at Douglas Pub, then a bartending job at Monighan’s and finally, but not least, came a hairdressing job at Gaby Negron’s barber shop. Even though negativity surrounded her, Carisima had faith in her destiny. Looking at the bright side, she was lucky enough to get a taste of the music industry, being part of 3 collaborations; on tracks ''Iloraras'' (Rakim y Ken-y) ''Duele'' (Jean Fonsi) and last but not least ''It ain’t no thing'' (Gardoula). Also, she was part of the back vocal team for famous Jowell y Randy at a venue welcoming more than 10 000 people. Shortly after, Carisima realized that the Reggaeton world wasn’t the one she wanted to evolve in. The journey continued in the hot city of Miami, where there again promises were made. The heat turned to cold very quickly as 5 young individuals burglarized her by pointing a gun to her head, while she was waiting for the bus. Luckily, the most high was near by looking upon her that day. Not having any money to survive, her sister sent her an airfare ticket and brought her back home. Ever since then, Carisima was offered a first part gig with Juelz Santana and Elephant Man in Albany, NY. This occasion has brought her to meet many people in the industry and it has encountered Carisima to work with one of P!NK's previous producer (Harold Frazier Jr) whom has collaborated on her first album. An agreement was made between both parties and since they have worked in conjunction until the termination on the contract. Carisima is now acquiring more knowledge in music as she is enrolled in the music program at Concordia University. Success is on her path; patience is, for the moment, the best friend she can have… Stay tuned to the Carisima storm hitting your area soon. contact: carisima.music@gmail.com
