ALL MIXES OF DSKASTING FEATURING FERAL OUT NOW ON BEATPORT

Cantankerous are a collective of masked renegades from the UK. Pirating elements of ragga, punk, dancehall, hardcore, electronic and industrial music, rocking a thundering mix of distorted guitars, hammering beats, block-shaking sub-bass, innovative melodies and fearless lyrics.

Flesh roast announces Cantankerous' impending assault. It's all done in a voice that mutates the rhythm and cadence of reggae and dancehall into a guttural growl and a rallying chant. "Fleshroast" is a track that takes on the Christian right and the Klan with soaring guitars that break down into what sounds like folk music from the Black Mountains, all in the matter of minutes.

FACE MAGAZINE LIVE REVIEW- SOPHIE HEAWOOD

Currently 5 - soon to add a 2nd guitarist and a drummer- all wearing haute black balaclavas and bits of Celtics oufits, Cantankerous could be just about anyone -a conscious rejection of the obsession with celebrity and surface aesthetics, by presenting a strong visual image that has nothing to do with any of their true identities.

ENTERTAINMENT WORLD ROCK REVIW 5/5

Finally, something new and original. I was in awe after listening to Cantankerous. This is definitely something words cannot describe. It's Republica meets Chemical Brothers meets Punk rock with a female vocalist.and it happens to be very, very interesting. The best part about Cantankerous is that they are made up of six masked, Celtic jersey-wearing men and women without a care in the world. Their goal: to simply play music you have never heard before. They do not want fame and they arent obsessed with money. Cantankerous is what the music industry should be. The tracks are strong with hooky chorus's and heavy guitar riffs, off on it's own originality, sometimes ompletely overlooking the meaning of "song structure." The vocals are unlike anything I've ever heard before. Think the Jamaican, rock and female and that's what you've got. The result is a voice that is undeniably attractive and entertaining. They are the type of band that have potential to be huge in countries where creativity and originality come before style and good looks.

Review by Logan Lenz YR MUM YA DAD OUR MATES SOON TO FEATUE IN OUR 1ST VIDEO FOR FLESH ROAST

This is the dope. Move over P******, Cantankerous trounce your bony-assed post-punk, electronics with a brand new fresh British sound. This is just the kick up the arse the UK popular music scene needs, a frightening 5-piece collective of masked renegades, fronted by a female MC with ripped tights and bloodied knees. They transcend music over image -Make Money bursts asunder like a hammered melon, with chainsaw guitar riffs and excellent rapid-fire female ragga vocals. Fizzing with energy, this is a belting. However, theres more to Cantankerous than meets the eye, Them is a more considerately produced slab of darkcore electro nightmarish stuff in fact.

Flesh Roast borrows from the current new wave revival, with a principally organic sound set to further mesmerising lyrical raps; the track even features some hillbilly folk music!

More sub-bass ridden, hip-shaking electro-industrial grooves arrive via Give It To Me Now and the powerful Rock Raw. This is uncooked, tribal stuff maybe too dark for the mainstream but Itd be great to see it break through.

MARVELLOUS SAT 16TH SEPT 06

"I hadn't been to Marvellous before and I can't help thinking that I really have missed out on something fantastic.

After a couple of tracks I forced myself to go into the other room in anticipation of Cantankerous' set. For those who have never seen them (and believe me when I say you've missed out) Cantankerous almost defy definition when it comes down to musical genre. It isn't quite punk, it isn't quite electro, it isn't quite ska. It isn't raga or industrial. It is all of these and more than these. What it definitely is though is f*****g fantasticly good. Cantankerous' music grips you by the balls and leaves you rolling around in sweet agony, begging for more. My only disappointment was that they didn't deck that twat of a photographer from a certain gay magazine that had the impudence to invade their space on stage. (As he has done with way too many other artists.)

21ST NOVEMBER 2006: JUST RETURNED FROM SERBIA WHERE WE PERFORMED FOR BOGOMIR DORINGER FROM BELGRADE. THIS FASHION DESIGNER AND ART STUDENT INVITED US TO COLLABORATE ON HIS FASHION SHOW, FOR BELGRADE FASHION WEEK, WHICH WAS AMAZING FROM ALLIED FARCE: www.antiwar.com/justin/diaries/diary8.html

JUST A PHASE?

This, we are told, is "phase three" of Operation Allied Force, the latest stop on the "timeline" we have been hearing so much about.

The talk shows are filled with "experts" and a very small group of selected "analysts" and politicians who all agree on one thing: the absolute moral necessity of conquering Yugoslavia, an "option" seriously proposed by General Odom: he wants to "take Belgrade," while in the same breath admitting that American troops would be stationed in Yugoslavia "for the next fifty years"!

As to whether this will entitle the people of Yugoslavia to two Senators, and at least a couple of seats in the House, is an issue the General did not pursue.

I can see the new Serbian license plates now:

"Serbia -- the Cantankerous State.”
