Canela

24 Year old Canela Cox was born in Los Angeles, California. She moved to Amsterdam at the age of 13 where her mother Rocque Harrell performed as an R&B singer throughout the European territories. Singing with her mother helped develop her natural vocal abilities. Upon moving back to the United States at age 18, Canela continued to pursue her musical endeavors performing with numerous musical groups throughout Los Angeles. Canela came to the attention of Genuine Representation from her work singing the background vocals on J-Los 1 single My Love Dont Cost A Thing as well as other demos featuring her vocals that were written or produced by Genuine repped clients. Her sultry vocal style has often been compared to Beyonce meets Brandy which you can agree is great company

After being discovered at a performance she was signed to Dreamworks Records. Shortly thereafter Dreamworks was sold to the Universal Music Group and the label was folded. Never one to rest on her talent she is currently completing a full LP Master comprised of an R&B /Hip Hop style which features various hip hop artists as well as Capitol recording artist Aksent with production from Genuine repped producers. Canela can also be found on some very popular soundtracks like High School Musical 2, Cheetah Girls 2, The Proud Family Movie, Jump In and the Coach Carter soundtrack.
