Born and raised in Richmond Va, one of the most difficult places for a black youth to come up, he became fascinated with music at a young age. This love of music also served as a diversion from the life that many of his peers fell victim to. While still in middle school, he and a childhood friend who goes by the name of Boa-Con used to make tapes using instumentals and soon graduated to a gemini mixer with an 8 second sampler, which provided the backdrop for most of thier earlier recordings. A couple of years later the humble duo linkied up with local Hip-Hop supergroup Disorganized Union, and the rest is history.

CAl Pacino formally known as S.G. and 40 Cal has been featured on some memorable recordings, one of which D.U.'s "Lintless", where he proclaimed "most rappers be sellin they souls to go gold", was one of the first local recordings to recieve heavy rotation on Power 92 FM and opened the doors for the local hip-hop scene in general.

While some of the more favored m.c.'s from the Union went for a more commercial appeal Cal Pacino with help from producer Diallo and a few others kept it true to his roots and stayed consistent with his realistic potrayal of the Richmond experience, including taking shots at the confederate styled administration, crooked cops, and all things street life oriented.

Cal Pacino has never really been the one to boast, but knows that good product speaks for itself. A listen to some of his work proves just that.
