Hailing from sunny Southern California, Caleb Clements has a musical style that captures the SoCal coffeehouse feel with all its acoustic passion and lullaby-like anthems. On his debute EP, Shine In Me, Clements’ guitars are at times twangy, at other times muted, yet throughout it all, artfully subtle. He’s able to capture quite a bit more of that instrument’s nuances by giving it a bit more space. Add that that his powerful lyrical composition and a slightly quirky, yet still nicely toned vocal style, and you get solid start for this new artist.

For a sound check on Clements’ tunes go to Song DISCovery Volume 62 and you’ll hear the title track of his EP. It’s worship with an understanding of outreach, and it has a booming chorus that acts as a proclamation of sacrifice. In fact, he also showed up on Song DISCovery Volume 57 with his slowed down worship treasure, “Come Unto Me,” which is already making quite a few rounds in churches around the country.

When we asked Clements what he hopes to accomplish with his music, he said, “Music is such a powerful tool in the church today. People remember the songs we sing, and there is a responsibility we carry when writing corporate songs. When it comes to the music that I write, I hope to reflect a heart that is honest with God. Whether a song is sung across the world, or simply in the privacy of my home, my aim is that Christ would be glorified.” Well, his aim is true. It’s his humble approach and an anointed way with lyrics that put Christ as the center attention. Though there is only an EP available right now, there is sure to be more on the horizon for Caleb Clements.
