For this orchestra productiehuis ON joined forces with Micromusic Netherlands and invited members of the Dutch Ricciotti ensemble. Conducted by Bas Wiegers they are the C64 orchestra.

This unique orchestra focuses on the gamemusic made for the groundbreaking 80s computer, the Commodore 64. Micromusic and ON also approached two of the most experienced C64-composers of the 1980's: Rob Hubbard and Jeroen Tel. The C64 orchestra performs their music, with scoring done by Rob Hubbard himself. The game scores that are performed include the following Rob Hubbard compositions: Delta, Commando, Monty on the Run, One Man And His Droid and International Karate.

Also Jeroen Tel's Cybernoid II, Hawkeye, Myth and Supremacy will be performed.

INFO ON THE CD CALLED RUN 10

After massive response we got from fans all over the world, asking for a cd, the big question was: when will the RUN 10 cd be released?

Run 10 is released in Europe and in the States! It's a limited release and we consider it to be a great piece of art. And yes, it isn't cheap, but the good things in life don't come cheap! Not only the artwork is something else, but it is also a 2 cd release, with @ cd 1: the c64 orchestra studio recordings and @ cd 2: the original c64 gamemusic, interviews, live footage, a remix by Deltabeats and MORE.

CHECK THIS GREAT GIFT:

Poke 20 -Remixing the C64 Orchestra-

Remember the groundbreaking Commodore 64 computer? And did you play the games? Did you know there is an orchestra actually performing this old game tunes and that it is called the C64 orchestra? You can find them on www.myspace.com/c64orchestra. And did you check the extra ordinary CD design? Way better than the usual stuff isn’t it?

The sequel of the C64 orchestra is POKE 20. Poke 20 offers you the possibility to get in the footsteps of the great Commodore 64 composer as Rob Hubbard and Jeroen Tel by downloading Monty On the Run in separate tracks and creating your own remix. Sadly though, the deadline for sending in new remixes has passed, so you can no longer participate in POKE 20.

But now for the good news: Twenty-two musicians from around the globe have contributed their remix of Monty On The Run (the C64 Orchestra version) and agreed with a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA licensed Poke 20 release of their remix. You are therefore free to download, copy, distribute their remix versions but it would be nice to give them a big up if you enjoy their work. This free release is made possible in collaboration with independant record label esc.rec.

Ontwerpatelier designed a poster, remixing artwork supplied by the Poke 20 remixers. This poster serves as packaging for a blank CD. Poster and blank CD are both silk-screened and together they make a nice piece of art in a limited (and numbered) edition of 200 copies. You can order your limited edition poster and blank cd here (this page goes live on November 2, 2009) for only 10 euro (ex. shipping) and burn your Poke 20 downloaded tracks on it to complete your own personal piece of art.

You can find all distribution sites through our two portals:

www.oninternet.nl and www.escrec.com.

Let’s play ON!

The C64 orchestra and Poke 20 is a productiehuis Oost-Nederland (ON) production. For this project, ON is working closely with Micromusic Netherlands.

Productiehuis ON is primarily creating new music and crossovers on the edges of the world of popculture. Their motto is "ONusual stuff for normal people".

Micromusic is a web community which roots lie deeply in retro-games music. Within the micromusic scene, game computers do not merely function as a game console, but as a musical instrument as well.

The live recordings at this website were made at the international premiere 22 September 2006 in the Gigant in Apeldoorn by Deltabeats. The cd design is done by HOTEL Amsterdam

The music of Rob Hubbard is published by High Technology Publishing C64audio.com
