Born a special breed and cut from a different cloth, Butta (also known as B-1) is a product of Newark, New Jersey. As a young girl, her mind actively formulated rhymes and poetry with unusual maturity. She possessed an innate skill and a natural gift of expression. She was nurtured under the tutelage of Lauryn Hill, who developed her technique and included her in sessions at Booga Basement Studio. Lauryn emphasized the importance of delivery in hip hop and Butta perfected the craft. As a result, she has been described by many as “The Lyrical Executioner.” Her lyrical agility in the midst of a track is fluid and effortless; the content is profound. Butta’s vast repertoire reflects personal experiences and she invites her listeners to glimpse into her life.



The highly anticipated single, “O’So Flye” is slated for release June 2008. It is a lighthearted, bouncy, feel good record with a contagious hook that says: “I’m O’So Flye, I’m so cool. I’m So Flye; I got wings on my shoes!” Though a significant understatement, she is fly. Her sound is distinct; her style is her own and her presence is captivating. Butta is a bona fide entertainer. The stage is her home and her fans are embraced as family.



Butta covers a broad spectrum of topics; her experiences in addition to her imagination are a steady inspiration. On “Cry No More” she recollects and mourns the death of her father and younger brother. Her songs are a divine therapy and she vents her joys and frustrations honestly. In a hip hop world with ghostwrites galore, she is often commended for writing her raps. She says, “If you need a ghostwriter, you don’t need to be rapping. It’s not your art.” The male dominated industry is in need of feminine energy and Butta is well equipped with the ammunition needed to contribute greatness to hip hop. She says,” A lot of chicks in the game are wack, but it’s a few hot ones. I respect and represent them. I’m one of them- one of the best.”



Butta will appear on VH1’s upcoming reality show, “Hustle for your Dreams” in the fall of 2008 so look out! Lastly, she never fails to acknowledge the blessing in her personal team of support: Sameerah’s Imagination Management, Power DVD, Akintola Hanif, and Misfitz.
