BRONWEN: Silent VictimLayers of melodic guitars, melancholic piano, and edgy violins that are haunting and sexy create a soundscape for BronweNs bitingly honest lyrics. With intense vocals reminiscent of Alanis, Evanescence, Sinead, and PJ Harvey, BronweN is Mad Chick Rock at its best!

A short little story so that you can know where the songs come from. May as well since you're here.

BronweN began her musical journey at the tender age of 4, when offered the chance to play violin. She first attempted songwrititng when she was 11. "I was really bad," she laughs. "All I cared about was getting the words to rhyme. My lyrics were horrible!" But she persevered, already dreaming of rockstardom. Then, one fateful day in grade 6, a classmate stole a song from her backpack, photocopied it 100 times and wallpapered the class. "I was devastated. I was laughed at for weeks." BronweNs inspiration dried up. Her prolific songwriting came to a halt, and she quit the violin. Frustrated with constantly being picked on, she became determined to fit in. At 12 years old she took up smoking. "For me it wasnt about being cool. It was about making friends. I desperately wanted to have a friend and smoking seemed like the way to make it happen." At 22 she realised that she no longer needed to smoke to make friends, so she decided to become a quitter. Sometimes quitters do win.

At the age of 21, BronweNs poetry once again took lyrical form. Wanting a way to put it to music, she bought a guitar. And so the rockstar dream returned. Seeing her passion for sound, a friend let her borrow a violin that he had never learned to play. She describes it as coming home. "I knew that something was missing from my life, but I didnt know what until it was back in my hands." She now plays the electric violin with a Boss ME-50 FX pedal and a Boss RC-20XL loop station.

In 2004 BronweN moved to Vancouver from Fredericton, NB and has been further developing her performance skills in venues such as The Candy Bar, The Media Club, and The Five Point. BronweN loves being on stage. It is my drug. There is nothing else in this world that makes me happier. She has now finalised her first commercial release, Silent Victim, which deals heavily with the theme of bullying. "It is something that I know all too well." BronweN plans to be an advocate for action against the bullying that happens on and off of school property. "I have a voice. I plan to use it."

BronweN sings, plays electric violin, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards, and bass. But not all at once.

Thanks for reading if you got this far!! That is my story short form. There is a longer interview about me if you are curious Interview with BronweN

And now I totally need to thank the boys who are playing with me on these recordings.

We have Dave Corman doing some wicked leads, and progamming too!!

Shawn Moran of IROC and Steve Everett, a great friend, playing bass for me.

Steve Everett played some guitars too.

Randall Stoll, (K.D. Lang, Tom Cochrane) on the skins

I am also super stoked about some amazing guys who like this music and are playing it with me. My fantastic band (and new family) - can I say that? Well, I did.

Tony Gimondo, crazy on the bass. Five string, fretless. you name it, he plays it. And he plays it so well! I give myself a shake to make sure I'm awake.

Simon Adam on the skins. This guy always has things together and always has fantastic ideas. His wisdom and good advice are second only to his playing.

WE NEED A LEAD. If you have chops and are in the Vancouver area, drop us a line!

I am truly blessed.
