The Breaks Collective, a bunch of down to earth guys who love to write, record and
perform music. In a genre which is all too often full of urban clichés, this band bring a refreshing take on Hip Hop to the table. Hailing from Devon, the group of seven hold down day jobs (including teachers, roofers, butchers, landscape gardeners and a lifeguard supervisor) while continuing to push their music to new levels. The Breaks' take inspiration from many styles of music including jazz, rap, hip-hop, funk, soul, rock and R&B to name a few; despite this wide range of influences the seven members knit melodies, beats and lyrics together to create unique musical and poetical flavour. The Breaks' musical ability enable them to keep the audience entertained with spontaneous sets and freestyles.
In 2012, The Breaks Collective are not just writing new chapters, but starting a whole new book. The significant milestone is symbolised with two single releases "Great Britain and Poetry" in aid of the Royal Marine Charitable Trust Fund and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute. The Breaks' have been working alongside both Royal charities throughout 2011 and 2012 with the sole aim of raising money and awareness, hoping to give something back to people who risk their own lives to help others. The Breaks' will be concentrating on promoting the singles over the summer with gigs, festivals (even including sharing the stage with De La soul in July at Electric Beach,Watergate bay, Newquay).
This is just the introduction to their future, as they build on their experiences and their knowledge on the path to a higher state of success. With an impressive 7 years of development on their resume, 3 EPs an 1 LP, plus gigging alongside musical heroes (Toots and the Maytals, Mix Master Mike, Gilles Peterson, Courtney Pine and The Pharcyde), they are hoping 2012 will be the year it will happen.
Later this year they are releasing their first official LP "Tuesday Night Music Club", a self produced and recorded album in an attempt to pin down their sound; they hope it will sum up their outlook; a passion for original music and live performance.
Keep an eye on the band's digital presence and expect lots of updates, videos and new music over the following months as they prepare for their official debut album release in the autumn.

They have released a couple of E.P.'s 'Short Guy Long Trousers' and 'Broken', and in 2009 released their debut album entitled 'Finally'. The success from the album has built up an even more dedicated fan base for tight 7-piece Hip Hop Fusion band who continue to sell out every venue they play.
Through their diverse musical appeal, the collective have been fortunate enough to share the stage with the likes of 'Toots and the Maytals', Jazz legend 'Courtney Pine', 'Gilles Peterson', 'The Pharcyde' and 'The Scratch Perverts' to name a few. Furthermore they were warmly received headlining at Europe's premier extreme sports festival 'Gold Coast Ocean Fest 'and the 'Fat Face' night air world freestyle mountain board championships, aswell as headlining Aeon Festival 2009 and 2010
So its 2010 and 'The 'Breaks collective' have just released there new single entitled "Great Britain, which will be released on the new EP 'Steppin Stone' on October 1st 2010. They will be continuing to post tons of exclusive recorded live shows on YOUTUBE and Reverb Nation.
