"In life the only constant is change". These are the words said by BrassMunk during the intro to their song 'Total Recall'. Truer words could not reflect the group any better. After their third nomination for 'Best Rap Recording' in April at the 2003 Juno Awards (Canada's answer to the Grammy's) , BrassMunk has made some BIG changes for their fall release of their second full length album, 'The Fewturistic'. Gone is May 19, and in his place to join S-Roc, Clip & Agile is Reign. The NEW quartet from Scarborough has a much richer and seasoned sound. The new music has more of a story than the playful releases we have heard from BrassMunk in the past. On 'The Fewturistic', the pain & struggles of a life in the music industry is very apparent. From songs like 'Before The.' where Reign & S-roc trade rhymes with each other from their first raps that they ever scribed & who influenced those pieces of poetry, to the insightful 'Brassography', where they take you inside the group, from humble beginnings, to clip taking a break after the pink slip was handed to May 19, the song is very captivating. The musical backdrop is provided mainly by Agile (Nas, R. Kelly, Kardinal Official, Frank & Dank, Jully Black, Saukrates, Big Black Lincoln), who has brought his heavy drum approach to the production of the record.

The 'NEW' BrassMunk is snap shot of four indivduals at a particular time in their lives as artist. Most apparent is how effortlessly Reign has gelled with S-Roc to give you a double baritone sound. The six or so tracks where Clip does spit, his tenor tone adds a 'just right' feeling to the album. BrassMunk has long since been a group celebrated by DJ's, writers and critics a like. They were listed by Urb Magazine as one the next 100 groups to watch for in their annual 'The Next 100'. BrassMunk was the first rap group to win the NXNE (north by north east) 'Rising Star Award', where over 500 bands are entered yearly. They have also won the UMAC (Urban Music Academy of Canada) song writers award for their first record 'Dark Sunrise' and were nominated in 2003 for an MMVA for their video, 'BIG', & in 2004 for their track collabo with Tone Mason & Friends 'Throwback'. With 'The FEWturistic', it looks as if BrassMunk has done that special trick of imprinting their soul on their music. As Agile, the groups DJ/producer says, "Shit happens. How you react and respond to the situation is what separates the men from the boys." With their latest offering, 'The Fewturistic' BrassMunk has stepped into manhood.
