Brandon Coleman

a young, energetic and passionate improviser, brandon coleman seeks to stretch the limits of being a guitarist by constantly searching for sounds beyond the normal barriers of the instrument.



currently pursuing his undergraduate in jazz studies at morehead state university, brandon is a member of many musical groups and ensembles dedicated to the art of improvisation-not only in jazz contexts, but in post-modern/avant-garde settings, and even the treacherous territories of rock.



not just satisfied with playing guitar, he puts time aside from practicing, arranging and composing every now and then to learn some skills on organ, piano, drums, and even a little turkish sáz.



his most current project, trio concréte, is a trio involving josé oreta on upright bass and andrew gillum on drums (sometimes pianos), and is focused on the art and energy of collective, free improvisation. you can download the first set of improvisations they recorded here.
