Brain Tuel was created in 2001 by long time friends Andrew Pothier, Mark Schildroth, and Zach Reid, when it became apparent to the friends that music is cool. The trio of friends (now a "band") procured, then-rookie, drummer Marc-Andre Parent and long time friend Jeff Jonusaitis to play along side them, solidifying their sound.

After a couple on/off years of writing original material and playing various local venues, the quintet decided to try it's hand at producing a short demo. The 9 song, "Adeline Ave.", was recorded at Southpine Studios in Sault Ste. Marie over Christmas 2005, and was officially released January 8th 2006. The album (now in it's second printing) helped solidify a a strong local fan base, selling to date approximately 200 copies.

For over a year following the release of the first demo, the band wrote and perfected material for what would become their first full length album. Somehow finding time between their educational aspirations and full time jobs the group developed a much deeper sound than was demonstrated in their first recording. Sometimes much heavier, and others more melodic and technical, Brain Tuel were honing their craft.

Ready to record a new full length effort by the summer of 2007, the band found themselves overwhelmed as they locked themselves in a basement studio of their own design. During that fall the demos the group recorded and mixed themselves were entrusted to the care of Andy Krehm of Toronto's Silverbirch Studios (who has mastered 6 Juno Winning Records!) for finishing touches and mastering. The end product couldn't have made the boys any prouder.

Following the release of Black&White, Brain Tuel's members were once again scattered throughout Canada (most notably would become drummer Marc-Andre Parent, who whould move to Norman-Wells, Northwest Territories for the forseeable future). This lead to a near year-long hiatus from playing together, and it was hard to tell what direction the band would take. But in the fall of 2008 the band decided to try writing/recording an acoustic EP, and in turn, explore a new area of their songs' sound. The self-produced EP, "Stuck In Small Places", is set for release December 22nd, 2008.
