J Vas is a music producer, a fresh emcee, and a psychedelic being. In 1996,fascinated from the old fashioned hip hop he learned from tv shows such as YO! MTV Raps, he began doing gigs and parties with his past time crew. His passion got fueled from purchasing vinyls and collecting pieces from the music store he was working in at that time. Surrounded by boom bap, spiritually amped by his stage routines in the 88046 area, J slowly became a producer, spawning his skills upon mics and turntables too. The funk-influenced productions he crafted made up his minds towards a new feel between man and his music.He drove his gusto into the depth of time and space. After relocating his house several times, he finally landed in 40100 area, where he met strange and stupid people. Among them people, crucial was the meeting with Mr. River, who put J in front of his skills and encouraged him to produce beats and increase his collection of funky vinyls. Alongside River, J appeared as only featured artist on the first real music project of his career, “gliOcchi”, in 2004.
As years passed by, J kept searching for his own sound and “blueprint”,
and in 2007 he finally gave birth to “THE FUCKIN’ ALBUM”, a concept album interely written produced mixed rapped and mixed by the Vas himself. The featured artists are Mr River, Dj Pith, Dj Namekk and Tony P.
Now working as a deejay in 40100 area, after doing gigs all around Italy, J starts collaborating with the group named Mariko Koala, as well as with the Londonian electro dj Franzis F. Chapel. Some electro/funk project is on the way,
so get ready for something real different. Really.
J Vas è un produttore musicale, un emcee fresh, ed un essere psichedelico. Nel 1996, affascinato dall’hip hop americano trasmesso da YO! MTV RAPS, comincia ad esibirsi dal vivo e a partecipare a feste con il suo gruppo. La sua passione, alimentata dagli acquisti di vinile, lo porta a lavorare in un negozio musicale.
Circondato dalla musica, spiritualmente elevato dalle sue esibizioni dal vivo, J lentamente si cimenta nella produzione, dapprima riversando il suo talento solo su microfoni e giradischi. Le prime produzioni al gusto di funk portarono il Vas a considerare la sua passione e il suo gusto sotto una luce diversa, profondamente alterando le cognizioni di spazio e tempo. Dopo aver cambiato casa diverse volte, e viaggiato, finalmente approda a Bologna, dove conosce molto mondo vario. Tra tutti, cruciale è l’incontro con Mr. River, che lo mette di fronte alle sue possibilità, e lo incoraggia a produrre beats ed a collezionare vinile funk. Proprio accanto a River, J appare come l’unico featuring sul progetto musicale “gliOcchi”, nel 2004. Col passare del tempo, J continua a cercare il “suo” sound, e nel 2007 il primo lavoro solista del Vas vede finalmente la luce: “THE FUCKING ALBUM” esce infatti nell’agosto di quest’anno.
Una sorta di concept album, interamente scritto, prodotto, rappato e mixato dal Vas, che addirittura scratcha anche in qualche traccia. Artisti che appaiono sull’album sono Mr. River, Dj Pith, Dj Namekk e Tony Pee.
Al momento, J lavora come deejay nell’area di Bologna, e collabora col gruppo elettronico Mariko Koala, oltre che assieme al dj electro londinese Franzis F. Chapel. Progetti electro/funk in vista, qualcosa di realmente differente. Fresh!
