With Bolt, each passing second brings something new to gnash your teeth into. riffs all over the place, guitar tone to DIE for, and rhythms that would make a math professor blush. They have such a knack for guiding guitar melodies, keeping them jumping at all times, allowing them to be surprising without being jarring.



Most of all they're just brilliant. You can be drawn into the whole thing, listening for the next turn in phrasing, the next playful exchange between rhythm section and guitar.



With everything that can be taken for granted when a record is labeled "progressive" (virtuoso guitar, cohesively insane rhythms, blinding bass), it's pretty rare that we get one that is this completely engaging from start to finish. These guys haven't sacrificed the rock for the progressive.

Een andere nominatie echter die "Movement And Detail" van Bolt toekomt, is die voor de amusantste promosheet. Naast de gebruikelijke frasen over hoe goed de plaat wel niet is en hoe moeilijk hij wel niet in één genre te plaatsen is, wordt er vermeld dat de plaat (in vergelijking met zijn voorganger) donker is en elementen combineert van jazz en metal maar ook – en nu komt het!

La musique de Bolt est instrumentale excepté quelques voix et exclamations des trois musiciens sur l'un ou l'autre morceaux. Ce qui frappe c'est le côté très technique de leur approche. Cela nous donne un rock assez intellectuel même si de-ci de-là des tons post-rock s'étalent.
