Springboro, Ohio native Bobby Streng is an active saxophonist, composer, and arranger of all genres of music. He made his concert debut in 1998 as a soloist with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also performed as a concerto competition winner at the University of Michigan and the University of Dayton. Bobby performed under Maestro Leonard Slatkin for the 2005 Grammy Award winning Noxos Records release of William Bolcom’s epic: “Songs of Innocence and Experience.” As a member of the Larry Teal Saxophone Quartet, he recorded a live version of Michael Colgrass’ “Urban Requiem” in one take, released in 2004 on Equilibrium Records. His Big Band compositional collaboration with jazz piano legend Hank Jones for the 2004 University of Michigan Jazz festival was released in 2005 on University Records. Bobby was also featured at the 2007 Detroit International Jazz Festival with his group, Saxomble.
Bobby is currently freelancing in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area and performing with the Paul Keller Orchestra, Albion Chamber Players, Lucas Paul Band, Harry James Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and his own group Saxomble. He has been on adjunct faculty at the University of Dayton, Albion College, and the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts. Bobby holds a Masters of Music from the University of Michigan and a Bachelors of Music from the University of Dayton. His primary teachers have been Donald Sinta, Ellen Rowe, Roland Vazquez, and Dennis Wilson.

BOBBY STRENG SAXOMBLE:With his new group, the Saxomble, Bobby Streng fuses his backgrounds in classical, funk, jazz, and rock into an exciting live experience fueled by the sound and improvisation of a powerful five man saxophone front. While the ensemble that he has assembled is tight and well rehearsed, it is the uniqueness of each players voice that will impress audiences most.
The Saxomble now boasts nine talented and experienced members: (Bobby Streng, Mark Kieme, Mike Hiemstra, Dan Puccio, and James Hughs – saxophones; Dale Grisa – keyboards; Matt Henninger – bass; Jonathan Ovalle – drums; Olman Piedra – Percussion). The debut album, “Live at the Firefly”, was released in February of 2007.
With their unique sound, scores of original music, and an ultra-high energy live show, the Bobby Streng Saxomble breathes new life into the world of instrumental music.

LIQUID STREET is a jazz/funk/fusion quartet based in Ann Arbor. Influences and repertoire come from the likes of Herbie Hancock, Soulive, Joshua Redman, Greyboy Allstars, James Brown, Wayne Shorter, and many others.
The band has an engaging repertoire, tight arrangements, an ultra-high energy live show, and four veterans of the Detroit/Ann Arbor music scene: (Bobby Streng – saxophones; Matt Endahl – keyboards; Jason Phelps – bass; LaDell Abrams – drums). Members of Liquid Street are also members or alumni of Funktelligence, Blue Maize, the University of Michigan Jazz Ensemble, Father Time, Harry James Band, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Paul Keller Orchestra, CB3, Ben Daniels Band, Dig, and the Lucas Paul Band.



********************************************************** BOBBY STRENG GROUP, the newest offering of Ann Arbor’s Bobby Streng, features some of his most elaborately arranged original compositions to date. The sound of the ensemble is highlighted by the unison work of Streng on saxophone and Toledo’s Jay Weik on guitar. Performances showcase new compositions specifically arranged for this ensemble as well as new versions from the repertoire of Saxomble. Completing the group are Saxomble veterans Dale Grisa (Keyboards), Matt Henninger (Electric Bass), and Jonathan Ovalle (Drums).
