Roberto Rios, professionally known as Bobby Crillz, has been pursuing a rap career for nearly ten years. Hailing from Perth Amboy, NJ, this central Jersey rapper first captures your attention with his tall stature and white boy appearance. Don’t be fooled though; he is of Puerto Rican descent and proud. Within moments of speaking to Crillz you realize that his personality distinguishes him from the masses. His positive, upbeat attitude is inevitably infectious. But what makes this aspiring rapper far more promising than the rest? For starters, Crillz offers a delivery reminiscent of Big Pun, who had the ability to incessantly control his breath and thus deliver a flawless rhyme. Crillz’s signature three minute performance over a Pun beat marvels audiences time and time again, as they witness Crillz transcend boundaries of consciousness and effortlessly accomplish the task of murdering the mic. Beyond his impeccable stage performance, Crillz offers a sense of comfort to the true fans of rap who cherish it’s roots. His lyrics are both truthful and good-humored, something that is almost non-existent in hip hop today. On the current state of rap, Crillz emphasizes “Hip hop isn’t dead, but the greats are almost done. That only leaves the ones coming up to keep it alive.” With two self-distributed mixtapes under his belt, Crillz is positive that with his determination he will keep it alive. He makes it very clear that until he accomplishes his goal of making music his full time job he isn’t going to resign. If talent, charisma, and determination were the governing factors to becoming a house hold name, Bobby Crillz would be in with the likes of Oprah and Obama. He is well aware that the cut throat rap industry, however, doesn’t function that way, and so he thrives on continuously expanding his knowledge and network.
