Legendary New England Music Collective headed by the brilliant Dylan Metrano.

The ever-changing collective Tiger Saw was founded in Newburyport, MA in 1999 by Dylan Metrano. Over four albums, they’ve explored a beautiful, hushed, slowcore sound; indie pop sing-alongs; and “basement soul”, a DIY take on soul / rhythm & blues. Numerous collaborators have performed with the band- their last album features Dirty Projectors’ Angel Deradoorian and Nat Baldwin, White Hinterland’s Casey Dienel, and Deer Tick’s John McCauley, among many others.

Tiger Saw has performed it’s original scores alongside the silent films Nosferatu and The Adventures of Prince Achmed, and has collaborated with Exit Dance Theater. A new collaboration with This Little Bird Dance Company is planned for 2010. Last year, Dylan Metrano’s book All My Friends Are Right Here With Me: A Decade in the Indie Rock Underground, an oral history of Tiger Saw and its community of friends was published by Burst & Bloom Press.

Tiger Saw has toured extensively on three continents and is known for playing unorthodox venues from beach bonfires to treetop sing-alongs, as well as basements and barrooms from coast to coast. Tiger Saw has performed over 800 shows with many bands, including Grizzly Bear, Explosions in the Sky, Kimya Dawson, Jens Lekman, Magnolia Electric Co., The Gossip, and Man Man.

UNBUNNY

Unbunny is from Seattle and I love his stuff!

Parasol records with Hum, Peter Bjorn and John, Dr. Dog and Mercury Rev.

"Jarid del Deo’s trio Unbunny has somehow flown under the radar through a gradual migration from Washington state to New Hampshire, releasing a series of pleasingly folk-tinged lo-fi discs on a parade of small labels along the way. Influences are displayed prominently on sleeves with the band’s fifth LP, Snow Tires: the stark acoustic strumming of “Nightwalking” and “I Knock Things I Haven’t Tried” is a direct lift from the Elliott Smith fake book, while del Deo’s nasal voice nods to Neil Young, particularly on understated full-band workouts like the piano-laced “Nothing Comes to Rest.” But what initially seems an impressive style-exercise gradually reveals Unbunny’s unique charms, largely through cryptic poetry and personal lyrics. On “Pink Lemonade,” del Deo repeatedly pleads, “Don’t leave me with the shakes” to a melody reminiscent of the Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down.” His appeals apparently rebuffed, the closing title track finds the narrator unable to summon more than a whisper as he hauls boxes from his girlfriend’s garage and frets over the condition of her tires. Surveying his small town’s Main Street Christmas decorations, he mumbles “Do they really think a string of colored lights is gonna rescue me?” Del Deo may not be the sunniest sort, but Snow Tires is the best kind of bummer." File Under: sweet melancholy Recommended If You Like: Songs: Ohia, early Elliott Smith, mellow Neil Young, Wilco, M. Ward, the One AM Radio

LAZARUS

http://thewayofthehumanbeing.blogspot.com/

Lazarus hails from San Francisco and is label mates with Mono, Cex and Explosions in the Sky.

Temporary Residence Limited Records

"Lazarus began in 2001 as Trevor Montgomery's post-Tarentel solo project, a pilgrimage of either insanity or freedom - or both. 'Songs For an Unborn Sun' was his first release, a minimal and soulful collaboration with longtime friend Marty Anderson (Okay, Dilute). His second release, 'Like Trees We Grow up to be Satellites (The Backwards America)', punched through the whispering darkness into an orchestral declaration of strength, political upheaval, and hope. Recorded by Scott Solter (Okkervil River, The Mountain Goats), it was a playful and rich approach at expressing both failures and fortunes of life. Lazarus has now grown into a small ensemble, featuring Sacramento natives Kathryn Sechrist and Kelly Nyland, exloring overwhelmingly beautiful depths with dense layers of drums, keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, glockenspiel, and Trevor's shamanistic, gospel-inspired vocals. Lazarus has become a brilliant, soulful, psychedelic experience of experimental and political grace. At last, this pilgrimage has found a solid road to freedom. "

Sensory Underload This amount of self loathing hasn't been heard since the suicide days of Lou Barlow. Still a fraud, a fake, self absorbed, can't be trusted, way off track, gave chances back, scared, quick to judge, slow to change—and that's just one song. --75 Words Or Less
