this album was purely a one off John never intended a follow up album. There was no band called The Blue Ridge Rangers, every instrument and voice on the album is played or sung by John.He never put his name to the album on its release his only mention is as Producer,so unless you actually bought the album you would never have known it was a John Fogerty album.John chose some of his own favourite country/bluegrass songs and recorded them and took the name from the track Blue Ridge Mountain Blues. Fantasy and its owner Saul Zaents did not promote the album,by this time Johns relationship with Saul was rock bottom and he was desperate to leave the label but due to the ridiculous terms of his contract he was unable to do so.The legal fighting between John and his former label lasted over twenty years, leading to a lawsuit in 1985 in which John was sued by Fantasy (Zaents)for sounding like Creedence on his new album Centerfield (Warner Bros Label). As I understand it was the first time an artist had been sued for plaguerising himself,John won his case but became bitter at his treatment and retired for ten years again. It was ten years since his last album (John Fogerty,Fantasy 1975),again got very little promtion from his label. But got very well received by critics,in my opinion a great album. his (John)story regarding the CCR breakup and what followed is incredible.
