At the start of 2008, Ant Hickman decided to close the doors on Bitterly Ironic to focus on other musical ventures. Thank you for all of the support Bitterly Ironic received, each and everyone of you.

So back to the present and future tense.This does not mean that new music will be created under a new alias; Keep your eyes and ears peeled.

"Bitterly Ironic was created by Ant Hickman in 2003, initially an acoustic project, it has since evolved into a laptop based live electronica act. The powerful and emotive lyrics sit in bold contrast to the skillfully crafted electronic sound. Classically trained Hickman, manages to combine these two sensibilities to produce contemporary techno/electro songs with deeper and more meaningful lyrical content. Within the construct of these songs, there is a poetry which builds in subliminal and personal references which can be interpreted in many different ways.



With a natural gravitation to electronic music the Bitterly Ironic sound has matured and developed. Currently working on a new set of work which embodies these sensibilities, the new songs will be ready for release Early 2008.



In November 2007 Bitterly Ironic released the debuit single ‘Die Stadt’ through local label Me&Yu. Over the past 2 years, Bitterly Ironic has gigged and toured extensively over the UK, which has provided support slots with Dragonette, Ra Ra Riot, I Was A Cub Scout, Dolby Anol, Trash Fashion, Glamour Soundsystem, Rochelle and {we are} performance; and festival slots at “In The City 2007,” “Burnt To The Ground” and “Sounds From The Other City” festival on the Contort Yourself stage.



The next 12 months for Bitterly Ironic are focussed on creating a body of work capable of attracting record label interest, heavy amounts of touring and a few single/ep releases."
