Bilz, a producer and MC, is certain that he holds the West Coast's musical revival in the palm of his hands. Through his music, Bilz can provide the musical resurrection that the West Coast so desperately needs. Bilz is a conscious artist that recognizes that the West has been suffering from a huge musical hiatus, and he is confident that he can be the one to wake it up! William "Bilz" Dougan, II was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. Though, Las Vegas is not known for its hip-hop artists, this producer/mc will be one of the first to make Las Vegas notorious for something other than its legendary casinos. Bilz has been writing and producing since 1999. His music has a laid back, west coast, sound with a touch of Midwest flavor. In the background of his beginnings, blared the sounds of Jazz, Soul Classics, Motown, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, Slick Rick and Run DMC. These roots make Bilz's sound an innovative blend of hip-hop and soul. Bilz has teamed up with producer Mr. President who has worked with Brooke Valentine, Pedi Crack, and Joe Budden. In addition, he has teamed up with DK ALL DAY who has worked with well-known artists; Ludacris, Kurupt, Lil Zane, and E-40. Bilz is a multi-talented and multi-faceted artist, with a vicious musical arsenal ranging from rapping to producing and engineering. Bilz has found his motivation through God, family, and non-believers. Already, he has built up a series of hot tracks such as Bad Habits, Live, Beautiful Thing, and The Way You Do. One of his favorite tracks is titled La La, which enchants its listeners with a Stevie Wonder sample. Bilz wants his music to speak to everyone. He has seen and experienced many things in his life, and it shows in his music. I know a little bit about a lot of shit, boasts Bilz. "I don't want to be looked at as a great rapper; I want to be looked at as a great artist. I'm more than a complete package," explains Bilz. With "crunk" music saturating the hip-hop scene, West Coast sounds have taken a back seat.
