Born in Huntington, West Virginia, Billy was raised around music from the time he was a child. His father was a musician, and in the house he listened to everything from Kiss, Journey, and Elvis, to the Beatles. As time progressed, the pants got tighter, the hair got bigger, and the rock got louder (metaphorically, of course!) and the bands blasting from the stereo included Warrant, Poison, and the other hair bands as well as the pop-rock bands of the era such as Depeche Mode. With such a broad musical taste, it was only natural that before long Billy would play in a band of his own. Now living in Cincinnati, he went through several in high school
and thereafter before Cherry Bang formed in 1997. With music based around the rock and glam influences of its members, the band played a fun live show (and were also to blame for the only post-80's increase in the ozone hole due to Aqua Net usage). Cherry Bang released their first CD, Generation SeXXX, independently in 1999. They were signed to Metal Mayhem Records in 2001 and their second CD, Popped!, came out in 2002. In December of 2002, the band went their separate ways. After the breakup, Billy packed up all his belongings into a handkerchief, tied it around a stick, and stood by Interstate 75 with nothing but an
empty guitar case and the songs in his head. (Actually he didn't, but wouldn't that make a glamorous story?) Naturally, Billy went on to do what most frontmen/songwriters do…start a solo career. Currently he is supporting his first solo release The Guy In The Glass. The style of the new material mixes all of Billy's influences from rock to pop to R&B into a very honest style that is catchy and easy to listen to. Thus ends the Billy Carri story…so far.
