From marching in the Southside High School Band to DJ'ing in clubs and other venues across the south, Priest Robinson, widely known as DJ Splash, has always been interested in music. Reared by his grandparents in South Memphis, DJ Splash grew up idolizing DJ’s such as DJ BK, DJ Spanish Fly, and DJ Superman.



“I used to always go to clubs in Memphis. But I didn’t go to party…” says Splash, “I went to chill at the DJ Booth, watching the DJ’s, fascinated by their skills. I would always buy their mixed tapes and listen to them over and over, listening to how they rocked the sound. It’s always what I wanted to do!”



At age 22, Splash hooked up with a local DJ named Ethan, also from Memphis, TN. Ethan took Splash under his wing and showed him how to hook up and operate his equipment and even did shows with Splash on a regular.



“Ethan didn’t have a lot of the popular music like I had. He’d call me up and ask me to do a show with him and we would each take half. Ethan was real cool. I appreciate him taking time with me and inviting me to his house and giving me a chance.”
