I am Hip-Hop.
>>>>>>>>>
I can tell you some stories; about this Hip-Hop thing for real!!
the reason i say I'm Hip-Hop because i have been a part of each aspect of Hip-Hop.
My first introduction to this culture was in my childhood days that's when it wasn't called Hip-Hop, that's when it was just DJing & MCing.
I grew up in McKinley Projects in the Bronx, across the street was Forest Projects home of some well known Hip-Hop heads AJ & Showbiz, Diamond D and Graffiti writers Phase 2 (the originator of bubble style) and Fat Joe.back in the days i met him as Crack,my boy Reven introduced me to him, me and Reven used to go out and tag Graffiti. but that's where the name comes from it's my old tag, i was original known as SEP because my moms had me my Brothers & Sisters on lock down so when it came to go tagging everybody went 'Sep somebody. lol
i actually got the named Dore in High School(Art & Design), short for Adoreable (I had babyface and this girl pinched my face and said "Your so adoreable" at our Lunchroom table and I dropped the "A" and started tagging it.
First aspects (Graffiti Writer)

I know this may seem confusing the way i go back and forth but this is the only way i can break it down.
Like i said all aspects Dore The Graffiti writer attended the High School of Art & Design where damn near every famous writer came from.
My Lunchroom table consisted of the following writers: Lil SEEN, Doze (Rock Steady crew) Airborn & Tack (My FBA partners in crime) Lady Pink (Wild style the movie), Mare, Bear, Webbles, Conan, and later a young kid named Snap who introduced me to Pharoahe Monche (Simon says what!!) and one of my best friends Rek aka Mr.Wiggles (as seen in many videos Missy,Usher, Limp Biskit,) when i tell people that me and Wiggles used to Dance together, they think It's a lie, i was in a group called The Electric Company (Lil Sput, LT the snake, Fable, Jim-Ski, EZ-T Wiggles & Me) before other dancers came in and changed up the family, but if you know Wigs or ever meet him feel free to ask him about Norm Spiv' not only did we dance together,we used to be in a Rap group together.(see old School pictures in my albums)
and again another aspect. (B-Boying Break Dancing)
In 1988 my group Fascinating Force signed a record deal with Select Records
Three MC's (EZ-T, Peter Gunn and yours truly aka DR. J.)and Two DJ's (Ill Will & Dropkutt pka Kid Debonair)
we put out three singles and had two singles on movie soundtracks
(NEW YORK TIMES REVIEW)

Our first single was called "Get Stupid" it was fast and crazy along the lines of Supersonic. the B-side was a Dance hall/Hip-Hop song called "We Are The Ones" aka getting the Puunaanee song. we actually performed that song for UB40 after them seeing us perform it at a New Music Seminar
Super Kat performed that night as well, it was big show at the Palladium in New York I'll never forget. also that song ended up being the theme song for the movie "WHORE" (Not a Porno if your wondering)
our next release was called "Do My Thing" the base Loop for this song had a sample that both us Fascinating Force and Brand Nubian's used for "Feel so Good" (please note: it pays to have good management, No Disrespect Jose lol) we shot our own video

we even got on Video Music Box with Ralph McDaniel's (Good Looking Uncle Ralph) but It was a time when them brothers was on the rise and History speaks for itself.
the last song we released with Select Records came out on the "Talkin' Dirty After Dark" soundtrack "Uptown Thing" Featuring Whistle and Rahiem from the Boogie Boys. this was one of our first R&B/Hip-Hop songs. when it came out not too many Rap groups was doing it. we had support from one of my favorite DJ's in the game Kool DJ Red Alert; believe you me he won't play your record if he doesn't like it and he had us in rotation "Good Looking Red!"
but my group was like many groups back then;ignorant when it came to the business so my advice to an artist is you don't have to know everything about the music business just know what you need to know.
Last aspect and first (MC,Rapper,)
Additional aspects Producer
Me & Peter Gunn (Fascinating Force) did most of the production in the group, EZ-T and Ill Will both worked at Downstairs Records an Oldies Vinyl store so we had some rare sh** i know for a fact they gave away some of the hottest samples used on today that made the hits for LL Cool J, MC Hammer, Tribe Called Quest, the list goes on & on but I'm a first hand witness to these three.
So Far my most memorable production was for ODB, (R.I.P. My NI$%@)

here's the story in a nut shell, my group left the label with Select, my group was slowly growing up and apart, I continued to do beats. while working at one of my Tree spots (Hint, Hint) one night, Dirty walked in.He thought it was all good, asked for a 40; looked around and then realized what time it was, I said Hold up!!! man let me play a song for you before you break out, I hit play.he started Rhyming (mind you i had the song on tape for like 7 minutes) it got to the end, he said play it again, 4 times later we were setting up the studio session at Chung King, (Later at the session) I went in laid the track, while Dirt was on and off the Phone waiting for Busta Rhymes, to make a long story short Busta Never showed for what was supposed to be another Remix for Brooklyn Zoo
thus leaving Mr. Jones to freestyle a whole song, if you listen real close to the track you might recognize my voice on the background vocals. The brother even let a Female Rap artist i was developing intro the song Shot outs to the Double V aka VViked she is still grinding and one of thee nicest Rappers unsigned. (Check out Lollipop SYD Remix on youtube) you will also here my first born sons voice sampled in the track. (1.2.3.4)
at the end of the sessions it was empty 40's all over.
"R.I.P. Dirt Dog aka Russell Jones"
so you see I've been In the Game for a minute i will keep grinding hard for the rewards
currently doing the damn thing up at Lightyear Entertainment
