Blade Icewood (real name Darnell Quincy Lyndsey, 1977-2005), was a Detroit-based rap artist slain in gang-related violence on April 19, 2005. Blade Icewood, a.k.a. "The Great Lakes Ruler", was a member of the Detroit based rap group Street Lordz, along with Uncle Jesse James, Juan (Baby Pablo), G-Rock, K-Doe, Rook, Malik (Eddie Kane), O-Dolla, Fat Mike, Short Dawg, Brick, Vito, Gift, Royce Da 5'9", and Lil' TJ The Thug. In 2005, Blade formed Icewood Enertainment, He Signed his first artists Candi Cane, Balee, Cash Out, who were with Dirty Glove Entertainment and 2 days before he died, he vacationed to Brazil for a 2 Million Dollar Operation on his legs so he could walk. His lable, Icewood Entertainment, was taken over by close family members. Blade was shot and killed on Tuesday April 19 2005 in a drive-by shooting at the Five Star Car Wash on 7 mile and Faust. The 27-year-old Lyndsey, who had been paralyzed in a shooting in September in his Oak Park apartment, was shot at about 5 p.m. as he sat in a wheelchair inside his Range Rover parked at Seven Mile and Faust on the city's West side. Earlier that day Blade was in the studio with west coast artist "LucKy LuchianO" recording songs for a mixtape called "North meets West. That was the last time Blade would bless the MIC. He was nominated in three categories at the third annual Detroit Hip Hop awards, including best local artist and had planned to release his third CD, titled "Blood, Sweat and Tears." Rumors still say that Blade is alive, escaping his enemies, making new material, and that he also "played dead" at his funeral.
