Best Wishes are a left of field pop-rock band from the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne Australia. Their unique approach to music has helped forge them an exclusively unclassifiable niche on the Australian music scene.

Forming in the infamous seaside town of Frankston in the late 90s, Best Wishes spent many years etching away at their sound, until they were ready to release their self-recorded, independent debut album Estate Of The Late in 2006. The epic album was met with critical acclaim and a strong underground following, both locally and overseas. Blunt Magazine reviewer Jeremy Sheaffe awarded it with 8/10, commending the timeless quality of the music and concluding: “you will still be playing Estate Of The Late in 20 years”.

Following their debut album, Best Wishes toured solidly around Melbourne in 2007, establishing a reputation with their intense and at times theatrical live shows. The addition of keyboardist Hayley Najim to the line up, added flute and an electronic sound to the music of Best Wishes.

In late 2007, Best Wishes entered Atlantis Sound Studios in Port Melbourne to record new material with Dave McCluney (Nick Cave, The Drones). ‘Fading From The Future’ to be released in mid 2008, is the band’s first release to be recorded outside of their home studio. The first single ‘A Standard Emotion’, with its upbeat futuristic groove, is somewhat of a polar opposite from the moody atmospherics of the debut Best Wishes album. Never satisfied with doing the same old same old, Best Wishes have enjoyed the new challenge of injecting their trademark twists and turns in the context of a concise, 2-minute song.

The experimental spirit in which the band have fostered throughout the years, still remains a constant throughout their new material. Stay posted for more new music soon, when ‘Fading From The Future’ drops in mid 2008.
