G.F. Handel - Minuet from Berenice - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 19, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
I've always loved Handel - indeed I hold him is as much esteem as J.S.Bach.

I hope you enjoy it.

Mozart is reputed to have said of Handel: "Handel understands "affect" better than any of us. When he chooses, he strikes like a thunderbolt."

To Beethoven he was "the master of us all... the greatest composer that ever lived. I would uncover my head and kneel before his tomb." Beethoven emphasised above all the simplicity and popular appeal of Handel's music when he said, "Go to him to learn how to achieve great effects, by such simple means" (courtesy of Wikipedia).

Despite the few performances the opera Berenice received, the slow section from the Overture, which became known as "The Minuet from Berenice", achieved popularity outside the context of the opera (courtesy of Wikipedia).

I took these pictures in various locations in the Peak District, Derbyshire, England.
