The man and the Music…



Born and raised in Long Island, New York, this talented 22-year-old musician has spent the past 4 years honing his skills in Philadelphia.



The self-taught Bass player is years ahead of his time, taking music as his love while listening to old Kool & The Gang cassette tapes with his father.



At 9 Benjamin started playing the saxophone, by 14 he’d taught himself to play bass by imitating baselines from artists like Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye.



By 15 Tinsley was already an accomplished saxophonist, with a new passion for the guitar. It was inevitable that just one year later he’d be writing his own songs.



“Hopefully you can listen to them with a certain activity and emotional involvement that will help you better appreciate it.” Says Tinsley



This ability to represent true emotion is what sets him apart and above musicians of his time.



Tinsley was influenced to put words to emotion by many great musicians, including the late Ray Charles.



“There are songs on which you can literally FEEL that he is smiling, just in the intonation of his voice,” says Benjamin.



But you won’t hear the word “emotion” in a Benjamin Tinsley original. He isn’t about telling a story, rather providing a paradigm for listeners to interpret relative to their own experiences. Making Tinsley’s music more than songs about love… but, LOVE itself on wax.



With the help of producer and Childhood best friend Samuel Jusino, Jr., Tinsley is making his mark on the music scene both here in the states and abroad having played shows locally in Philadelphia and impromptu shows in Paris last summer.
